About This Position
Release Of Information Technician
Responsible for the processing of all requests received (written, telephone, or fax) for copies of the patient records from sources such as patients, insurance companies, health and welfare companies, physician's offices, patient accounting, attorneys, state or federal courts, and legal/regulatory agencies, base on regulatory requirements. Responsible for the completing duties of the departmental receptionists Education: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent with a GED. Successful completion of a Windows operating system course or training session required. Successful completion of a medical terminology course preferred. Experience: Previous experience in a hospital Medical Records / Health Information Management Department or medical office preferred. Previous experience in customer service, preferred. Previous experience with a document imaging system preferred. Must have good verbal, written, and computer communication skills. Must demonstrate the ability to be detail- oriented and perform tasks at a high rate of accuracy and through established policies and procedures. Must demonstrate the ability to interact with customers (internal and external) via telephone or in person. Must be able to type at or above the rate of 25 wpm. Must be able to push or lift 30 lbs.
