POSITION SUMMARY
Leads multi-state union mechanic and parts teams. Acts as the primary bridge between field project demands and shop capacity. Manages daily maintenance, road mechanics, and technical repair quality. Responsible for transforming repairs scheduling into a streamlined production line by monitoring equipment assignments, shop workflow optimization, and physical asset management.

- Supervise multi-state union mechanic and parts teams
- Develop and execute weekly shop schedules to ensure mechanical throughput aligns with field project timelines
- Maintain real-time, prioritized inventory of all equipment.
- Organize shop floors, reducing "travel time" for mechanics and ensuring bay space is utilized at 100% capacity
- Coordinate rapid-response mobile mechanics for on-site pipeline failures to mitigate project standby costs
- Review and develop organizational project plans for equipment throughout the yards, ensure organization and cleanliness in all work areas for efficiency and safety of staff
- Identify and monitor outside vendor repairs for completion
- Ensure all work assignments, overtime distribution, and team concerns are managed in accordance with specific local union contracts.
- Set clear "wrench-time" expectations and quality benchmarks. Conduct regular performance evaluations and manage disciplinary actions when necessary
- Enforce a "zero-compromise" safety culture. Lead daily toolbox talks and ensure all mechanics utilize proper PPE and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Identify skill gaps and coordinate specialized training for complex assets like horizontal directional drills (HDD) or tier-4 engine diagnostics
- Conduct regular "boots-on-the-ground" assessments of high-priority assets (Side-booms, Dozers, Excavators) to verify repair quality and long-term viability
- Provide data-driven input to the Director regarding which assets are beyond economical repair and should be slated for disposition/replacement
- Audit completed work orders to ensure mechanics are meeting departmental efficiency deadlines
- Oversee the Parts Manager and Inventory Coordinator to ensure critical "wear parts" (teeth, tracks, filters) are stocked ahead of peak season demands
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
Competencies:

- Must have experience with Fleet Maintenance / Service Management Software Systems

Supervisory Responsibility
Supervision of Fleet Parts Manager, Inventory Coordinator, and multi-state mechanic team.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma, or equivalent required
- 8-10 years of heavy-construction experience
- Mechanical background required. Knowledge and expertise in hydraulic systems, undercarriage wear, and diesel engine diagnostics
- Advanced hydraulic, or diesel certifications preferred
Work Environment
Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme heat, near moving mechanical parts and includes occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and to vibration. Maybe exposed to hazardous tools and equipment.

The employee must frequently lift and move up to ten pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to twenty-five pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Full-time weekday position 6AM – 4PM (schedule may vary depending on construction project work). Flexibility to be available during off hours for emergency issues.
Travel
Primary office work location in Long Branch, New Jersey. Travel for multi-state teams for operational business purposes, as needed.

Benefits and Compensation:
Position offers competitive pay, benefits, paid vacation, and health/dental insurance.
Full-time: $125,000-$155,000 a year, based on experience and qualifications.
