Would you like to provide support services to adoptive families? We are seeking compassionate individuals to engage with families and establish strengths-based relationships as Family Support Specialists. This role supports the Child and Family Team in implementing Plans of Care that are family-centered, strengths-based, and highly individualized.


PCC is a nonprofit organization based in Sacramento, CA, with a retreat location in Woodland, CA. We host therapeutic day camps, events, and retreats where staff, programmatic families, and youth can find community. Our mission is to support adoptive families across California by providing resources and navigating the Wraparound process. We aim to promote comfort, connection, and community so every child feels loved and valued, and every family feels supported by someone who understands their journey.

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family Support Specialist (FSS) to join our Wraparound team. The FSS supports children, youth, and families by building respectful, collaborative relationships that center family strengths and promote stability and growth.

This position involves regular, direct engagement with families in the home and community, providing practical support and guidance to help families strengthen skills and maintain a safe, nurturing home environment. The FSS works alongside parents, caregivers, children, and youth to encourage progress toward identified goals while fostering trust and consistency.

As a member of the Child and Family Team (CFT), the FSS contributes observations and input to support the development and ongoing updates of the family’s Plan of Care (POC). This role emphasizes collaboration, intentional support, and a strengths-based approach to supporting families.


Key Responsibilities:

Build rapport and establish a safe environment to foster emotional connection with families.

Assess and identify areas of concern for parents and children, using a nurturing and trauma-informed approach.

Encourage open communication of emotions and feelings within families.

Provide individual and group coaching for children and parents as needed.

Support families in processing challenging situations and establishing consistent daily routines.

Promote engaging and educational activities as part of family development.

Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating mindfulness, regulation, and understanding.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (required).

Associate’s degree/ Bachelor’s degree or coursework in social work, mental health, or a related field (preferred).

Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children and families in a supportive role (required).

Understanding of trauma-informed care principles and practices.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Proficiency in using computer software for documentation and reporting.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for home visits (required).

Preferred Skills:

Creative problem-solving skills to meet family needs effectively.

Experience managing stressful situations effectively.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Additional language skills are valued.

Schedule and Work Environment:

Part-time position, 15-20 hours per week.

Weekday afternoon/evening hours (2pm-8P), with occasional weekend availability as needed.

Compensation: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour.

Hybrid work environment: In-person responsibilities include home visits and occasional travel to the PCC office, Woodland Retreat Center, and community locations. Online responsibilities include virtual team meetings and digital documentation.
