About This Position
Employment Specialist
MLMP is currently looking for a driven and compassionate Employment Specialist to join our growing family. For over a decade MLMP has worked hand-in-hand with our
community, changing how people with disabilities and other life challenges are embraced and included. This critical work ensures that people with disabilities not only live, learn, work, and play in their communities, but more importantly, thrive. MLMP operates at 6 locations and provides programs throughout Broward and Miami-Dade Counties. This particular position will serve individuals in Cutler Bay and Homestead areas.
The Employment Specialist position is responsible for job coaching services, direct
observation, assessment of skills, and supporting participants on the job. This position will have a direct impact on an individual with disability’s quality of life, self-value, and
independence as well as to enhance workplace culture. A successful candidate must
possess excellent customer service skills, be willing and capable of working with autonomy, have reliable transportation during work hours, and be proficient in Microsoft Office and Google docs to compile data and write report summaries.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide job coaching services to the program participants which includes, learning and teaching a wide variety of job tasks and work safety skills; serving an advocate and liaison between the employer and consumer; and assessing the program participant’s needs on the job site as they arise.
Complete and submit documentation of work activities.
Mentor and motivate the participants to perform their job functions efficiently and thoroughly.
Be a positive role model and ambassador of My Life My Power, while maintaining appropriate behaviors at all times.
Develop relationships with organizations willing to provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the methods of compiling, organizing and analyzing data
Knowledge of interviewing techniques
Ability to provide counseling and guidance in the area of career planning
Ability to develop individual Employment plans
Ability to assess test results
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
REQUIREMENTS
1. A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (rehabilitation, counseling, social work,
psychology, education, human resources, business or economics) from an
accredited college or university, with at least one year work experience in job
placement, job coaching or counseling; or employment in a public vocational
rehabilitation program or other direct employment or training experience working
with persons with disabilities.
OR
2. A Master’s Degree in a related field (rehabilitation, counseling, social work,
psychology, education, human resources, business or economics) from an
accredited college or university, with six months’ working experience as
described above.
3. Must successfully complete the extensive training requirements.
4. Must pass a pre-employment Level 2 criminal background check and drug
screen.
5. Must have a valid Florida driver’s license with reliable transportation.
6. Must maintain consistent work attendance.
Pay Rate
$42,000/annually
