About This Position
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) will play a vital role in advancing the mission of the Joseph H. Neal Health Collaborative by providing compassionate, high-quality in-house and mobile HIV/STI testing, treatment, prevention services, and chronic disease support.
This position supports JHN’s Intimate Health for All initiative by delivering clinical care across South Carolina, with a focus on HIV, Hepatitis C, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, PrEP, DoxyPEP, and Diabetes management. The nurse will work collaboratively with the Chief Medical Officer, Nurse Practitioner, Health Screeners, and community partners to ensure same-day testing and treatment access — especially in underserved and rural communities.
Requirements: Clinical Services- Perform rapid HIV, Hepatitis C, and STI testing (CLIA-waived testing)
- Conduct venipuncture and specimen collection (blood, urine, swabs)
- Provide HIV/STI counseling, risk reduction education, and linkage to care
- Administer medications including:
- Bicillin and other STI treatments
- PrEP initiation support
- DoxyPEP counseling and protocol implementation
- Diabetes A1C testing and management support
- Assist in same-day PrEP and Test & Treat model implementation
- Monitor and support patients living with HIV to ensure viral suppression
- Maintain accurate documentation in Athena EHR
- Travel with mobile unit to rural and community-based testing sites
- Provide on-site testing at community events, colleges, churches, and partner organizations
- Support community education initiatives aligned with JHN’s 4 Pillars of Care
- Assist with patient transportation coordination when necessary
- Support linkage to HIV care within 24–48 hours of reactive test
- Coordinate follow-up appointments and medication adherence support
- Work closely with pharmacy partners (e.g., PrEP adherence support)
- Assist with referral navigation for specialty services
- Maintain CLIA compliance and infection control standards
- Ensure proper storage and handling of test kits and medications
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Support 340B compliance documentation as needed
- Active South Carolina LPN or RN License
- Current CPR certification
- Experience with phlebotomy and specimen collection
- Strong understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality
- Ability to work flexible hours including Saturdays
- Willingness to travel for mobile outreach
- Experience in HIV/STI care or public health
- Experience with PrEP management
- Familiarity with Athena EHR
- Bilingual (Spanish preferred)
- Experience working with underserved or vulnerable populations
