Laborer - Underground at Verita Telecommunications Corp – Indianapolis, Indiana

The Laborer supports the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground telecommunications infrastructure. This role assists directional drill crews, trenching crews, and fiber installation teams to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to company and customer specifications.

• Assist with underground construction activities including trenching, conduit placement, and cable installation

• Support directional drill operators and locators during drilling operations

• Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment at job sites

• Perform hand digging using shovels and other manual tools when required

• Install and place conduit, handholes, vaults, and pedestals

• Pull fiber and coax cable through conduit systems

• Restore job sites to pre-construction condition (backfilling, grading, cleanup, seeding, etc.)

• Follow all OSHA, company, and customer safety regulations

• Maintain a clean and organized work environment

• Operate small equipment such as tampers, compactors, and saws (as trained)

• Identify and report safety hazards or damaged utilities immediately

• Previous construction or outdoor labor experience preferred (telecom experience a plus)

• Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions

• Ability to lift 75–100 lbs regularly

• Basic knowledge of hand and power tools

• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a crew

• Strong work ethic and safety mindset

• Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred but not required)

• Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting

• Ability to work long hours including overtime as needed

• Comfortable working in trenches and confined spaces

• Ability to work around heavy machinery

• Outdoor construction sites

• Exposure to weather, dirt, noise, and heavy equipment

• Travel may be required depending on project location
