Position Description?
The Facilities & Events Support Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the Goodman Community Center provides a safe, functional, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for staff, volunteers, program participants, and guests. This position supports daily building operations through hands-on maintenance, preventative care, and event and room set-ups that directly support hospitality services and community programming.
Responsibilities
- Complete room and space set-ups for meetings, programs, special functions, and community events according to provided diagrams and schedules.
- Support hospitality operations by ensuring event spaces are clean, organized, and properly equipped prior to use.
- Perform routine building maintenance and minor repairs to maintain a safe, functional, and welcoming environment.
- Respond to building work orders in a timely and professional manner.
- Conduct preventative maintenance tasks in coordination with the Facilities Manager.
- Clean and maintain building entryways, exits, lobbies, and communal spaces.
- Operate and maintain basic cleaning and custodial equipment in accordance with safety procedures.
- Follow proper chemical handling, storage, and cleaning protocols.
- Maintain custodial and maintenance storage areas, ensuring supplies and equipment are clean, stocked, and organized.
- Identify, diagnose, and troubleshoot basic maintenance and facility issues.
- Report safety concerns, security discrepancies, and building issues promptly to supervision.
- Perform basic mechanical and equipment maintenance as assigned.
- Support landscaping and groundskeeping operations, including mowing, trimming, pruning, raking, watering, fertilizing, and seasonal cleanup.
- Perform snow and ice removal and maintain safe exterior walkways and entrances.
- Support vehicle operations including maintenance tracking, inspection logs, scheduling service, and coordinating repairs.
- Assist with vehicle training and ensure compliance with safety and operational procedures.
- Comply with all safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are reasonably within the scope of this role.
Qualifications?
- Minimum of six (6) months of prior experience in facilities, maintenance, custodial services, or a related field.
- Ability to read and follow schedules, written instructions, room diagrams, and setup plans.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage daily tasks and follow through on requests.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to interact respectfully with staff, volunteers, and community members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Willingness to accept direction, feedback, and training.
- Basic knowledge of building systems, custodial practices, and general maintenance.
- Experience with vehicle and building maintenance preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to drive 15-passenger vans.
- Physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, including lifting, bending, standing, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
