Position SummaryThe Director of HR Operations is responsible for leading the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of HR services, processes, and systems that support the employee lifecycle. This role ensures operational excellence across HR functions including employment actions, benefits management, compliance, HRIS, analytics, and policy administration.
We are seeking a Director of HR Operations to partner with HR and senior business leaders to provide efficient, scalable, and employee-friendly solutions that enable the organization’s workforce strategy. This position plays a key role in supporting enterprise human resources needs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, operational excellence, and compliance standards.
- Leads HR operations team members responsible for completing employment actions, benefits administration, HRIS, compliance, and employee services, ensuring employee support services are efficient, accurate, and aligned with company culture.
- Develops and oversees policies, processes, and controls to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance, ensuring HR operations comply with all applicable employment laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Owns and optimizes the HR technology platform (HRIS, ATS, LMS, etc.), overseeing data integrity, system configuration, and reporting capabilities.
- Implements automation and process improvements to enhance the employee and manager experience, driving standardization and efficiency in HR operational practices across the organization and continuously improving HR operational processes to enhance ease of use and employee satisfaction.
- Uses data to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings, providing insights on workforce trends, turnover, headcount, and other key metrics, and maintaining audit readiness for payroll, benefits, and employee records.
- Works closely with HR leadership team to align operational priorities with business goals while partner with HRBP, Employee Experience, Talent Management and Compensation teams to ensure a seamless employee lifecycle (onboarding to offboarding) and managing vendor relationships and compliance for HR service providers.
- Contributes to strategic HR projects such as M&A integration, expansion, or new program launches, supporting organizational growth through scalable HR systems and processes.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field (Required)
- Master’s degree in human resource management or business administration (Preferred)
- Licensure/Certification: Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) (Preferred)
- Experience:
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in HR operations leadership (Required)
- Proven track record of leading process improvement and systems implementation (Required)
- Experience working in a complex, fast-paced, or multi-site organization preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws; understanding of system integrations, data integrity, and reporting; understanding of ROI for HR technologies and services; expertise in risk mitigation and employment action operations (Required)
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or similar process-improvement frameworks (Preferred)
- Ability to partner with leaders and stakeholders at all levels and to present insights to senior leaders (Required)
- Ability to design and execute HR operations strategy aligned with organizational goals (Required)
- Ability to develop compliant policies and lead audits (Required)
- Ability to analyze workforce data and identify operational improvements (Required)
- Ability to support headcount planning and organizational design (Preferred)
- Strong decision making and change management skills (Required)
- Proficiency with KPIs, HR dashboards, and SOP creation (Required)
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills (Required)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills (Required)
Work Environment
- Location: Hybrid (Local to Central Ohio)
- Schedule:
- 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. (Eastern Standard Time) Monday through Friday with night and weekend hours on occasion as determined by the needs of the business and cross-facility travel as needed
- Regular meetings with internal Operations, Finance, Technology, Compliance, Quality, and Training teams along with senior leaders. This role may also have meetings with external vendor and consultant partner representatives
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while writing or reviewing documentation
- Must be able to work on a computer for the entire shift
- Must be able to attend virtual meetings with cross-functional teams.
