In this role, you will operate at the core of a strategic modernization initiative, working with legacy mainframe systems to support a large-scale migration to AWS. You will analyze and decode complex COBOL applications, batch processes, and mainframe orchestration flows to uncover critical business logic embedded in legacy environments. Your work will directly contribute to shaping the future architecture by providing the technical foundation for system transformation. This is a highly analytical and detail-oriented position, requiring deep understanding of legacy ecosystems and strong collaboration with technical and business stakeholders. You will play a key role in mapping dependencies, documenting processes, and enabling a smooth and secure transition to modern cloud-based infrastructure. The environment is fast-evolving, technically challenging, and central to a major digital transformation program.

• Analyze and interpret COBOL programs in mainframe environments to understand existing system behavior and business logic.
• Map job execution flows orchestrated through Control-M, identifying dependencies between jobs, chains, files, and processes.
• Identify and document data flows (input, transformation, and output) across legacy systems.
• Extract and formalize embedded business rules within legacy applications for documentation and migration planning.
• Classify processes based on criticality, execution frequency, and operational windows.
• Analyze integrations with external systems and databases to ensure full visibility of system interactions.
• Support the creation of flow diagrams and data lineage documentation to improve system transparency.
• Consolidate technical findings into structured documentation to support modernization and migration strategies.
• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to validate findings and ensure alignment on system understanding and migration approach.

• Strong experience working with COBOL in mainframe environments.
• Solid understanding of batch processing and job scheduling tools such as Control-M.
• Ability to analyze complex legacy systems and identify dependencies across applications and processes.
• Experience mapping data flows and understanding end-to-end system behavior.
• Strong capability to extract and document business rules embedded in legacy code.
• Experience working with system integrations and database interactions in legacy architectures.
• Ability to create technical documentation, diagrams, and dependency mapping artifacts.
• Experience supporting or participating in modernization or migration initiatives (cloud migration is a plus).
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and structured thinking.
• Good communication skills and ability to work with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Senior-level experience in legacy system environments is required.
