Position Title: Facilities Technician

Accountability: Facilities Technician reports to the Facilities Director

Job Classification: Seasonal full-time, hourly – not benefits eligible

*This position will support a festival coming to Stowe from mid-June through late August. This role is a seasonal full-time position, ranging from that same time frame. Hours and schedules will vary weekly based on business needs.

Working nights and weekends is required for this role.*

The Facilities Technician is responsible for assisting with the upkeep, repair, and maintenance of buildings, systems, wells, and overall grounds. This includes performing routine inspections, troubleshooting issues, and executing preventative maintenance tasks. The role ensures that the facility and its surrounding grounds operate efficiently and safely, meeting all regulatory and organizational standards. An ideal candidate will be self-motivated, handle multiple maintenance projects at the same time, and work outside throughout the year.

Responsibilities:

  • Understands the importance of each guest to Stowe and drives excellence to ensure an optimal experience in every way.
  • Monitors, reports, and/or addresses maintenance needs for HVAC system, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, irrigation systems, and wells to prevent equipment failure and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Assists with the daily monitoring and removal of trash from areas throughout the Stowe property, ensuring a well-maintained appearance.
  • Patrols and monitors the building interior and exterior, checking on building and grounds, and maintaining a helpful presence.
  • Assists with guest parking as needed.
  • Assists with the setup and breakdown of events, including tables and chairs.
  • Assist with opening/closing procedures in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Monitors and replenishes basic supplies throughout the building and grounds.
  • Performs basic custodial tasks, including the cleaning of bathrooms.
  • Conducts regular inspections of the facility, irrigation systems, wells, and grounds to identify and address any safety or maintenance issues.
  • Responds promptly to maintenance requests and work orders, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Adheres to safety regulations and protocols, ensuring that all work is performed in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and inventory of tools and supplies.
  • Responds to emergency maintenance situations during and after regular hours as needed.
  • Works closely with other team members, departments, and external contractors to ensure the efficient operation of the facility and related systems.

  • Exhibits a passion for the mission of Daniel Stowe Conservancy
  • Successfully pass a standard background review.
  • Required to work nights, weekends, and holidays, and available for on-call duties as required.
  • Must be willing to serve all guests equally regardless of their race, color, religion, national origin, age, gender, marital status, disability, veteran status, genetic information, gender identity, and/or sexual orientation.
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of programs at the most rigorous level.
  • May experience extended exposure to sun, rain, cold temperatures, wind, and water, and potentially uneven terrain with trip hazards.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular walking, lifting, twisting, crawling, pushing and pulling, grasping
  • Frequent sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling

Experience & Education:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in facilities maintenance or a related field.
  • Ability to diagnose problems, identify solutions, and implement repairs quickly and effectively.
  • Efficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
