Design Drafter at Astronics – East Aurora, New York

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented individual to join our team and contribute to the design and development of cutting-edge electro-mechanical products. In this role, you will be instrumental in bringing our vision to life, working with a team of passionate engineers to create high-quality designs that meet our rigorous standards.

What You'll Do

• Design and develop electro-mechanical product packaging using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
• Create clear and precise component and assembly drawings to guide the manufacturing process.
• Utilize your knowledge of MIL Specifications, ANSI drawing standards, and geometric tolerancing to ensure all designs are accurate and compliant.
• Analyze engineering specifications and customer drawings to determine the optimal design and arrangement of parts.
• Collaborate with customers and vendors to adjust and refine designs as needed.
• Interpret and implement redline changes into existing drawings.
• Create and manage bills of materials and product configurations using our Intuitive Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) program.
• Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and maintain detailed records of design adjustments.
• Occasionally support the manufacturing team by writing process sheets and acceptance test procedures.

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• An Associate's degree in a technical field, such as Computer Aided Drafting/Design Technology, is preferred.
• 2-5 years of demonstrated experience in CAD is a plus.
• Proficiency with PTC Creo or similar CAD software is a must; experience with AutoCAD and Solidworks is a bonus.
• Familiarity with electro-mechanical packaging and the use of LEDs for lighting is beneficial.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Base salary: $25 - $32/hour, influenced by several factors including experience, skill set, education, certifications, market conditions, and business needs.

Language Skills

Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos. Attention to detail and interpersonal skills in a team environment is necessary.

Knowledge of basic mathematic including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to work with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Should possess higher level math skills, especially geometry.

Physical Demands *
