About This Position
The MRP (Material Requirements Planning) Planner ensures the timely and efficient supply of materials for production by analyzing demand, scheduling receipts, managing inventory, and coordinating this information with master scheduling, logistics, and other cross functional departments. In essence, the MRP Planner is responsible for all aspects of material replenishment to satisfy production requirements in a cost-effective manner.
A Day in the Life | Responsibilities We Trust You With:
- Develops replenishment plans and generates purchase orders for packaging and ingredients required for all phases of the production process for specific plant(s) and assures all materials and ingredients follow approved quality & functional specifications, negotiated contracts, and internal SOPs.
- Communicate material shortages that will impact production to the plant scheduler and provides alternative solutions to meet finished goods customer service levels.
- Coordinates with procurement to prepare and expedite purchase orders for raw materials and supplies
- Responsible for coordination of inbound logistics in cooperation with transportation management.
- Responsible for facilitating investigation of Root Cause Corrective Actions for defective or out of spec. ingredients and packaging material.
- Participates in testing of new or improved materials, while guaranteeing compliance with SOPs of new materials and suppliers.
- Supports optimization projects for ingredients and materials as needed and directed by the Procurement Category Manager.
- Assist with cross plant vendor floor stock management as needed.
- Review inventory shelf life issues and take steps to reduce losses.
What You Must Know | Education and experience:
- A four-year college degree preferred or equivalent in materials buying/purchasing
- 3-5 years’ experience in materials material buying or related experience in a food manufacturing environment
- Experience with SAP (ERP, MRP, and demand planning) is preferred

- Proficiency in MRP/ERP systems

- Requires intermediate level of computer proficiency
- Some travel required
