About This Position
Pay Range: $ 23.49/hr - $ 27.60/hr - $ 31.71/hr
*Please note, the highest starting rate as a new hire is $27.60/hr, based on applicable experience.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Trauma Registrar is responsible for overall maintenance and daily operations of the Trauma Registry. Specific activities include identification of all patients meeting trauma inclusion criteria, review of registry patient medical records, complete abstraction of data from all phases of care, and identification of selected complications and quality indicators; timely, accurate, and complete data entry into the registry database, and generation of reports, patient care summaries, and statistics to support performance improvement committees and activities.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
- Two years clerical experience
- Two years’ experience (or college coursework) in business, computer technology, statistics, or database management
Desired:
- Experience with electronic medical records
- Experience with a trauma registry
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Experience in emergency services or trauma services arena
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in health-related field
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
- AIS Scoring course (within one year of hire) (dept tracks)
- ICD-10 course (within one year of hire) (dept tracks)
- Trauma registrar course (within one year of hire) (dept tracks)
- Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry (CSTR) (within two years of hire)
* Upon completion of all the above, plus one-year experience in the emergency services arena, Trauma Registrar will advance to a Certified Trauma Registrar
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Must have knowledge of Medical Terminology. Must have excellent telephone and interpersonal skills to maintain a positive rapport with managers, co-workers, employees, and public. Must consistently maintain a professional demeanor as a representative of the management team. Must possess excellent analytical, grammatical, punctuation, spelling, and formatting skills which are necessary to communicate effectively. Must be able to make independent decisions within established guidelines regarding organization and scheduling of work. Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential. Must be able to follow instructions, maintain confidentiality, work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment. Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook programs. Must have skills and experience in organizing and coordinating meetings, conferences, conference calls, and multiple schedules. Must be able to compile data and information into a useable report format. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
