Position Summary
-
The Perioperative Navigator directs, supervises and coordinates the activities related to patient flow in the surgical areas. The Navigator's primary function is to ensure rapid and efficient movement of patients through the surgical system. This position is responsible for assignment and acquisition of resources (human and supply/equipment), problem –solving across the units involved in surgical care, appropriate communication with management, physicians and staff. Uses the strategic planning process; consults with and advises the Managers for the Operating Room, Sterile Processing, Ambulatory as well as the Director for Surgical Services on issues relating to the operation of areas of responsibility; monitors staff behavior (attendance, tardiness, productivity) related to on-time case starts, turnover time.

Bachelors of Nursing - Required

Experience
-
3-5 Years Perioperative Clinical Experience - Required

Prefer scrub & circulating experience Prefer Operating Room leadership experience (Charge Nurse, Team leader positions or equivalent)

License & Certification

Registered Nurse License with State of Practice – Required

CNOR required within 6 months of hire

Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required

- Effectively uses the nursing process to care for patients in the perioperative setting as needed.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage change and empower others to influence clinical practice and political processes within and across systems.
- Coordinates schedule with posting, anesthesia, surgeons and staff. Uses resources wisely. Promotes on time starts.
- Promote staff development of generalist skills with expert in assigned service. Assist in development of mentoring and precepting relationships. Assess staff for learning needs. Coordinates staff in-service and education. Educates on best practices. Maintains a learning environment.
