We have an excellent career opportunity for Janitorial Custodian with Full Time employment at one of our prestigious federal office buildings located in NE Washington DC 20002. Conveniently access by Metro Red Line, NOMA Gallaudet University stop.

Full Time 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 07:30am to 4:00pm. Schedule flexibility required between 6am to 6pm and overtime. Position is essential personnel.

Pay: $17.75 per hour plus Health & Welfare

Custodian/Janitor Job Summary:

The custodian/housekeeping will clean and maintain assigned areas of the federal property and grounds.

Custodian/Janitor Duties/Responsibilities:

• Performs cleaning, housekeeping, and light maintenance tasks and services throughout assigned property including exterior such as parking lot.
• Outside snow removal and operation snow removal equipment.
• Sweep, mop and buff floors.
• Trash pick-up and empties trash containers, add clean liners, including recycling as required by established standards.
• Assists with the cleaning and sanitizing of shared facilities and common spaces.
• Put away cleaning materials and supplies where designated.
• Replenish receptacle supplies such as towels, soaps, and toilet paper.
• Washes inside and outside windows include glass doors and furniture.
• Vacuums and cleans floors, rugs, carpet, furniture, and drapes.
• Dust furniture and scrub surfaces clean.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Custodian/Janitor Required Skills/Abilities:

• Thorough understanding of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
• ASTM Green Cleaning Standards.
• Detail-oriented and thorough.
• Ability to perform routine cleaning and operate cleaning equipment.
• Ability to keep the property clean and orderly.
• Work well independently and with a team.
• Understands instructions and directions.
• Good interpersonal and professional skills.

Custodian/Janitor Requirements:

• 3 years of related experience, preferably in a federal office environment.
• Experience with cleaning equipment such as snow removal and floor buffers.
• Must pass a background check and Department of Justice (DOJ) security clearance to obtain and hold badging to access federal secured properties.
• Pass pre-employment and on-going drug screen.

Custodian/Janitor Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of stationary position.
• Ability to constantly move/walk, work up high, above head, or low and position self and move in accessing constricted spaces.
• Ability to push, pull, lift/carry cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Ability to occasionally transport objects up to 50 pounds.
