NON-MANAGEMENT JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Accounting Associate
Exempt/Non-exempt: Non-Exempt
Immediate Supervisor: Accounting Supervisor
Salary Range: $20 - $22
Essential Functions:
1. Primarily responsible for assisting with various accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, and general ledger maintenance. Process transactions, including verifying invoices, obtaining proper approvals, and ensuring accurate and timely payment disbursement.
2. Maintain accurate and organized financial records, both in physical and electronic formats.
3. Prepare documents and files for audit purposes, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
4. Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
5. Assist in the participation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
6. Evaluate Accounts Payable, including, researching invoices for amortization requirements, establishing accounts payable sub-ledger protocol, for Finance and Operations, AP System, set up new employees, create new vendors, upload files for interface
7. Evaluate Accounts Receivable, including, tracking pass-through receipts and refunds, monitoring grant receipts and expenditures, AR System, input monthly billings, input and apply identified cash receipts, and reconcile sub-ledger to general ledger.
8. Evaluate Month End Close, including, accrual analysis, GL analysis for appropriate coding to ensure accuracy and completeness, working with Accounting Team to implement in-process data system, and Ad hoc reports, analytics and projects that support the Accounting Team.
9. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and provide support as needed.
10. Handles confidential information with discretion.
11. Stay updated with changes in accounting regulations and best practices.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Ability Requirements:
• Strong Excel and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting activities
• Demonstrated ability to use accounting software and spreadsheet applications (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel).
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Ability to problem-solve and think analytically. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure.
Education and Experience:
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting, finance, or a related field or two years relevant work experience.
Physical Demands and Other Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties listed in the job description satisfactorily. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, or controls; reach with hands and arms. Capable of operating standard office equipment, including a computer and keyboard, calculator, typical business machines such as a fax machine and copier. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20-30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to have valid driver's license, auto insurance and must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle. The work environment characteristics include a noise level which is usually low to moderate.

Notifies, in a timely manner, the supervisory chain of any incidents or circumstances that need attention. Report all suspicions or allegations of abuse immediately to their supervisor. Ensures appropriate utilization of materials and resources and minimizes waste.
