Avera is currently seeking Registered Nurses (RN) – Clinical Nurse Educator!

Job Summary

  • The Department of Nursing at Avera McKennan requires all nurses to practice at a competent level of nursing care and demonstrate a competent and professional level of behavior in his/her role as a RN.
  • The American Nurses Associations (ANA) scope and standards of practice are exemplified within the position description.
  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide nursing care for the patient.
  • He/she assumes responsibility and accountability for his/her individual actions and outcomes of patient care delivered on his/her shift.
  • Additionally, the Clinical Nurse Educator serves as the primary resource for clinical skills and expert knowledge to nursing staff.
  • He/she is a key player in developing and implementing competencies, orientating new staff members, and will work clinical shifts in order to support new staff and to maintain clinical competency.
  • He/she assists with the multidisciplinary approach to achieve excellence and continuity of patient care with defined emphasis on formal and informal staff education and patient/family teaching.

Education and/or Experience

  • Graduate from a CCNE or NLN accredited nursing program is strongly preferred.
  • Graduate from an approved nursing program is acceptable.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing required
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in nursing preferred.
  • Two to three years of subspecialty care experience is preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Dakota and/or meeting the requirements of multi-state licensure required.
  • Strongly encouraged to complete life-saving education specific to specialty area.
  • Membership in professional organization is preferred.
  • Certified in specialty area of nursing practice is required within 12 months of hire.

Work Schedule

  • Monday - Friday; 80 hours every 2 weeks
    • 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
    • Occasional weekend
    • Occasional call time

Pay

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

  • $32.50 - $48.75 per hour
