The University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences is a nationally renowned leader in the field of health care education, research, and clinical practice preparation. SHRS has 14 different disciplines related to health and rehabilitative care.
The department of Rehabilitation Science and Technology is seeking a Data Analyst to conduct primary statistical analyses in support of the study aims, including Cox proportional hazards regression for time-to-eligibility outcomes, Poisson/negative binomial models for diagnostic utilization, and linear regression for patient satisfaction outcomes. Responsibilities will include applying machine learning and clinical NLP techniques (e.g., gradient boosting, GPT-2 embeddings) as appropriate. Analyses will be reproducible, well-documented, and completed on schedule to support publications and grant deliverables. The candidate will support preparation of the follow-on grant applications and other grant submissions through preliminary data analysis, results visualization, and manuscript drafting. The candidate will also contribute to peer-reviewed publications as appropriate.
Evaluates business requirements and performs complex data integration and analysis utilizing highly advanced analytical methods while developing advanced and highly complex analytical and reporting tools. Coordinates data projects, provides technical support, and participates in funding development.
Essential Functions
Build and maintain ETL pipelines to extract, clean, and integrate data from VA Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW), Managerial Cost Accounting (MCA), and collected study data. Datasets to be delivered in analysis-ready format with documented provenance. Identify data quality issues and resolve promptly with clear version control.
Physical Effort
Primarily sedentary work involving use of a computer. Occasional lifting of standard office materials (under 10 pounds). No unusual physical demands.
