Position Summary:
We are seeking a Registered MRI Technologist (ARRT) to join our imaging team at Beacon Health System in Elkhart, Indiana. This role operates magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners to create high-quality diagnostic images. The MRI Technologist communicates procedures to patients, ensures their physical and psychological comfort, and works under the guidance of the Director of Radiology.

Obtain patient history to ensure safety during MRI procedures
-
Select technical factors to optimize image quality
-
Evaluate images for technical quality and make adjustments as necessary
-
Maintain knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy
-
Perform protocol exams based on diagnosis and adjust protocols as needed
-
Clean and maintain MRI equipment
-
Report equipment malfunctions to supervisor
-
Perform protocol exams with reading Radiologist
-
Explain MRI procedures to patients and provide care for their physical and psychological needs
-
Administer safety precautions related to magnetic fields and maintain a safe environment
-
Start IVs for contrast media injection and safely administer contrast according to ACR guidelines
-
Participate in on-call coverage on a rotational basis
-
Orient and train new MRI staff; work with Job Shadow and students
-
Keep MRI rooms adequately stocked with linens and supplies
-
Verify all written orders prior to procedures
-
Enter accurate exam information into Radiology Information System
-
Ensure all images are uploaded and accessible in PACS
-
Enter accurate exam codes to ensure proper billing
-
Scan relevant documents into PACS and prepare films/CDs as requested
-
Perform post-processing functions (MIP, Medis, Cadstream, etc.)
-
Attend department meetings and participate fully in shared information
-
Complete mandatory education, annual competencies, and department-specific training
-
Maintain licenses, certifications, and registration in good standing (ARRT, MRI registry, CPR/BCLS)
-
Follow universal precautions, protective equipment standards, and ergonomic techniques
-
Adhere to regulatory requirements, survey processes, and compliance policies
-
Be available for overtime and additional shifts as required

Associate’s Degree (or equivalent certificate) in Radiography or MRI
-
Required: Current CPR certification, MRI registry by ARRT (within 6 months)

Preferred: 1–2 years of Radiography/CT experience or MRI-specific degree; 1–2 years MRI experience

Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists as a Radiographer or MRI

Familiarity with MRI equipment and human anatomy

Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy

Limited nursing skills and sterile techniques
-
Works in hospital office and patient care environment
-
Requires lifting and moving patients from beds to exam tables
-
Must perform all essential functions safely and effectively
