You will provide strategic oversight across complex commercial, consumer, employment, intellectual property, and securities litigation matters, ensuring consistent, defensible, and cost-effective legal approaches. Partnering closely with executives, cross-functional teams, and outside counsel, you will shape litigation strategy, mitigate risk, and provide actionable guidance to senior leadership. You will also drive process improvements within the litigation function and mentor other legal team members.Accountabilities:
- Lead and manage the companys global civil litigation portfolio, including complex disputes and high-stakes matters.
- Direct and oversee outside counsel domestically and internationally, including strategy, budgets, and quality control.
- Manage disputes across categories such as consumer class actions, commercial litigation, employment claims, IP threats, and regulatory matters.
- Develop and execute cross-border litigation strategies, including jurisdictional challenges, arbitration enforcement, and international discovery.
- Collaborate with internal legal, compliance, product, and security teams on pre-litigation risk mitigation and early case assessments.
- Lead initiatives to enhance litigation processes and operational efficiency within the legal department.
- Provide concise, executive-level reporting, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and the Board.
- 10+ years of experience litigating complex matters in financial services, technology, or related industries, in-house, government, or at a top law firm.
- Admission to practice law in the U.S., U.K., or Canada.
- Strong judgment and ability to manage high-visibility, complex litigation matters.
- Experience directing outside counsel and managing budgets and strategy for multiple, simultaneous cases.
- Excellent communication skills, including executive-level reporting and risk assessment.
- Proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with an opportunity-making attitude.
- Interest in emerging technologies, digital assets, or crypto is a plus.
- Preferred: Experience handling client legal threats and cross-border disputes, particularly in technology or financial services.
