About This Position

Position Title: Cashier - Pool

Reports To: Pool Manager

Department: Food and Beverage

Shift: Varies

Role: The Pool Cashier provides friendly, efficient service by accurately processing food, beverage, and retail transactions while assisting guests with menu information and general inquiries. This role supports smooth pool operations by maintaining an organized workstation, restocking supplies, and following all POS and cash‑handling procedures. The Pool Cashier consistently delivers professional, courteous service and upholds the resort’s high standards for guest experience. Adheres to all Company, Safety and Department policies and procedures. Fosters teamwork and provides excellent guest service, anticipates guest needs to exceed guest expectations. Builds brand loyalty by living the JW Marriott Core Values.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience: Previous experience in a cashier, host, retail, or guest‑service role, preferably in a hospitality or resort setting.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly and effectively in English.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and general PC applications.
    • Strong cash‑handling skills with accuracy, honesty, and attention to detail in processing transactions.
    • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion.
    • Excellent organizational and coordination abilities with strong attention to detail.
    • Pleasant, guest‑focused demeanor with a team‑oriented attitude and a genuine interest in assisting guests and colleagues.
    • Flexibility and adaptability to schedule changes, including the ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
  • Required:
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Required Work Cards needed:

  • Valid Clark County Health Card
  • Valid Las Vegas Alcohol Awareness Card (TAM Card)

Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Monitor and control access to the pool area, ensuring only authorized guests are permitted entry.
  • Open and close the towel hut in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Assist guests with cabana inquiries, bookings, and sales, providing accurate information and courteous service.
  • Stock, clean, and maintain all pool, recreation, and cabana areas while delivering exceptional guest service.
  • Support guest purchases by offering knowledgeable guidance on product selections and pricing.
  • Operate the cash register accurately and efficiently, handling all transaction phases with care.
  • Fold, stock, and replenish pool towels throughout the shift as needed.
  • Assist in training new team members by demonstrating proper procedures and service standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of cabanas and support cabana hosts and servers as needed.
  • Fulfill all reasonable management requests in support of smooth and efficient pool operations.

Work is performed in a (type of location, i.e., office, kitchen, restaurant, casino, etc.) environment and in other locations throughout the property. Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases too loud. Additionally, smoking is permitted in casino areas consistent with Nevada state regulations, which are followed by the employer.

  • Interacts with management, fellow Associates and/or guests.
  • Ability to verbally communicate effectively with guests and coworkers
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (five hours or more).
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, upscale environment.
  • Requires transporting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires eye/hand coordination.
  • May require use of standard office equipment. (Micros System)
  • May require basic math with the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.
  • Ability to and comply with Policies and Procedures, Job Description, daily memorandums, chemical labels (SDS) and other instructions.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals
