Registration Access Specialist at University Health System- San Antonio – San Antonio, Texas

• Interviews patients to obtain accurate and complete patient demographic and insurance information in order to complete the admission and registration of all patients
• Communicates with self pay patients about charges and assists patient with payment arrangements
• Collects appropriate forms as required by Medicare, Medicaid insurance companies and or other agencies

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• High school graduation or equivalent is required.
• Six (6) months experience in a hospital/physician setting, obtaining insurance benefits and pre-certification is preferred
• Prior collection experience is preferred. Billing experience and contract knowledge is preferred.
• One year of experience in a similar occupation and basic medical terminology and ICD 9 coding experience is preferred.
