ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Director of Sales will lead and accelerate The Hair Edit’s growth across key national retail accounts, with a primary focus on Target, Ulta Beauty, Kroger and Walmart. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategic sales plans, deepening retailer partnerships, and driving profitable revenue growth.

The ideal candidate for the Senior Director of Sales role brings a strong track record in beauty or accessories, deep expertise in key account management, and a nuanced understanding of the mass and specialty retail landscape.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Strategic Account Leadership

  • Own and lead relationships with Target, Ulta Beauty, and Walmart, serving as the primary point of contact and strategic partner
  • Develop and execute annual and long-term account plans to drive revenue, market share, and brand presence
  • Identify and unlock new distribution, merchandising, and promotional opportunities

Revenue Growth & Forecasting

  • Deliver against sales targets, margin goals, and KPIs across all assigned accounts
  • Build accurate forecasts and demand plans in partnership with internal teams
  • Analyze POS, inventory, and category data to inform strategy and optimize performance
  • Manage Markdown/Return Accruals with CFO on monthly basis

Retail Strategy & Execution

  • Partner cross-functionally (marketing, product development, supply chain) to ensure best-in-class execution at retail, including OOA and Off Shelf
  • Lead Market Meetings, assortment planning, and innovation launches tailored to each retailer
  • Drive in-store merchandising excellence, including PDP optimization and promotional strategies. Retailer ECOMs will be managed by a separate Account Lead

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Manage and mentor account managers and/or sales team members as applicable
  • Collaborate with marketing on retailer-specific campaigns and storytelling
  • Work closely with operations to ensure inventory flow, replenishment, and service levels

Market & Competitive Insights

  • Stay ahead of category trends, competitive activity, and retailer priorities
  • Leverage insights to inform product development, pricing, and go-to-market strategies

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • 8–12+ years of sales experience in beauty, personal care, or accessories
  • Proven success managing large national accounts, specifically Target, Ulta Beauty, and/or Walmart
  • Strong understanding of mass and specialty retail environments, including merchandising and promotional levers
  • Data-driven mindset with experience analyzing POS and syndicated data (e.g., Circana/Nielsen)
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence internal/external stakeholders
  • Experience scaling emerging or growth-stage brands is a strong plus

WORK LOCATION & SCHEDULE:

  • This position is open to remote candidates based in the United States.
  • Standard business hours: 9am – 6pm (Flexible based on Time Zone)
  • Occasional business travel: 10-15%
