This senior scientific leadership role sits at the center of nonclinical safety strategy across complex drug development programs spanning early discovery through post-marketing stages. The position plays a critical part in ensuring that therapeutic candidates are supported by robust, fit-for-purpose toxicology and safety frameworks aligned with global regulatory expectations. You will act as a key scientific authority within cross-functional project teams, influencing study design, data interpretation, and overall development strategy. The role requires strong expertise in translational safety science, with the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams through evolving preclinical challenges. You will contribute directly to advancing innovative therapeutics across multiple modalities, including biologics, small molecules, and emerging technologies. This is a highly collaborative environment where scientific rigor, leadership, and regulatory insight directly shape patient-impacting outcomes.

Accountabilities:

Serve as a senior toxicology expert and primary nonclinical safety representative on cross-functional drug development teams, guiding strategy from discovery through regulatory submission and post-market stages.
• Design, implement, and interpret nonclinical safety assessment programs supporting diverse therapeutic modalities and development candidates
• Develop and evolve integrated toxicology strategies aligned with regulatory expectations and emerging scientific data
• Author and contribute to key regulatory documents, including INDs, BLAs, NDAs, and internal governance materials
• Lead multidisciplinary nonclinical safety teams and provide scientific oversight across studies and external collaborations
• Engage with global regulatory agencies and contribute to industry discussions on advancing safety assessment approaches
• Mentor internal scientists and support capability development within toxicology and safety sciences

Requirements

Extensive experience in nonclinical safety sciences with deep expertise in toxicology program leadership and regulatory interactions within pharmaceutical or biotechnology environments.
• Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent) with significant post-graduate experience in drug development and project team leadership
• 8+ years of industry experience in pharmaceutical or biotech settings, including leadership of nonclinical safety or toxicology programs
• Strong background in regulatory submissions and direct interaction with U.S. and international health authorities
• Deep understanding of cross-functional drug development processes and matrixed organizational environments
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex scientific data into clear strategic insights
• Proven leadership in designing integrated, fit-for-purpose safety strategies for innovative therapeutic modalities
• Board certification in toxicology or equivalent advanced expertise is highly desirable
• Strong collaboration, influencing, and mentoring capabilities
