Job Description
Position Summary
Responsible for production, processing, and quality control of all major proteins including, but not limited to: beef, pork, ribs, sausage, chicken, and fish. In doing so, this position is crucial for maintaining high quality food and sides that our customers will come to expect.
Experience in a restaurant kitchen or food production facility is preferred. Ability to work well with others and take direction, while being available to work a variety of shifts including mornings, evenings and weekends is also necessary. Excellent customer service and hospitality skills, exceptional math skills to calculate food pars and production numbers, and the ability to work well under times of pressure are musts for this type of position. Candidates will be expected to exhibit accuracy in executing assigned tasks, while also demonstrating exemplary communication, organizational and multitasking skills.
Job Duties
• Helps to maintain a clean and safe environment to work and shop.
• Effective communication with team members and supervisors to build and maintain morale.
• Knowledge of company policies, programs, and procedures.
• Promote harassment-free work and shopping environment, and immediately reports any potential harmful situation.
• Continually strives to build knowledge and skills, both personally and within the department.
• Proper product handling, case cutting, price marking, rotation, facing, and display of merchandise.
• Follow through and achieve all company policies, programs, and directives.
• Is a team player and able to do the jobs/tasks asked by others.
• Maintain quality standards within the department and store.
• Assist guests to help improve their shopping experience.
• Completes tasks efficiently and in a timely manner
• Demonstrate and master the skills to properly cook all food items within established time standards
• Assist in recipe creation and keep products consistent
• Maintains proper freshness, pricing, code dating, tare and merchandising of the product in compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Ability to analyze, calculate, and write productions levels and pars
• Check smokers for proper settings, functionality, and temperatures
• Keep equipment operating in top shape by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and informing management of needed repairs
• Master and execute all opening, mid-day, and closing duties
• Exceed quality standards and provide superior food products and services
• Remove garbage and recycling
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Maintains effective control of products and supplies inventory, keeping in line with established budgets and guidelines.
• Always maintain adequate and appropriate department records.
• Helps plan aggressive merchandising programs for increased sales. Assists with implementation and giving ideas for cross merchandising with other departments.
• Maintains an awareness of competitive activity with the store marketing areas.
• Helps maintain product and cost control in conjunction with company objectives to maximize department sales and profits and minimize losses.
• Provides professional example for other store team members to follow.
• Assumes the responsibilities of the Service Deli Manager in her/his absence.
Experience: Previous deli or restaurant experience and leadership skills is preffered.
Minimum Age: 18 Years or older
Equipment use: Cash register, fryer, slicer, wrapper, two- wheeler, box cutter, etc.
Physical Abilities: Regularly required to walk, stand, twist, and bend; repetitive use of hands and arms to push, pull, carry, lift, reach, grip, and balance; occasionally stoop, crouch, kneel, or crawl. Use of step stool and ladder. Lifting 60+ pounds and may include floor to shoulder and overhead.
Communication: Ability to write, speak, hear and/or understand the spoken word in order to respond promptly to team members and guests' needs. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals.
Education: High School Diploma or GED; or related job experience and/or training are required. Food Handler's Permit required.
