Job Purpose: The Shipping/Receiving I is responsible for assisting in receiving, storing, pulling, and loading orders for distribution while maintaining an organized warehouse with controlled record keeping.

Essential Functions

  1. Unpacks, examines and routes incoming shipments, rejects damaged items and records shortages. with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  2. Verify that all items pulled are the correct part number and, in the quantity, ordered.
  3. Document any variances from the pick ticket or customer order to what was picked, so confirmation and invoicing will be correct.
  4. Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes.
  5. Determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  6. Deliver or route materials to departments, using work devices, such as hand truck, conveyor, or sorting bins.
  7. Safely and securely pack, seal, label, and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using work devices such as hand tools, power tools, and postage meter.
  8. Make sure items are put away in the proper place in an orderly fashion, and that aisles and doorways remain clear to minimize possible accidents.
  9. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Secures tools, materials and equipment at end of day.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate detailed information to customers, coworkers and management.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and/or pallet jack.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate computer and computer software, to include Microsoft Office products and MRP.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
