Position Summary
Performs all project work assigned, including but not limited to stripping & refinishing hard floors, bonnet & extracting carpets, waste handling & transport, supply distribution & handling, wall washing, patient and nonpatient area cleaning as required.
Responsibilities
- Performs routine maintenance for hard floors and carpeted areas.
- Set-up and break down areas for catering functions.
- Removal and replacement of cubicle curtains and window drapes.
- Perform removal of waste and bio-hazardous waste from point of origin to the proper disposal site.
- Performs cleaning duties in patient and nonpatient areas, including but not limited to restrooms, wall washing, window blinds, bed making, and other related duties as assigned or requested.
Marginal Functions:
- Performs both essential and marginal job functions in a safe manner as identified by Saint Anthony Hospital and the respective department while adhering to the Hospital’s confidentiality norms and standards. Actively and consistently demonstrates the core values of Saint Anthony Hospital in all interactions with others.
- Assumes responsibility for knowing and maintaining established hospital and departmental objectives, policies/procedures including general sanitation, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Participate in performance activities including problem identification, data collection, solution selection, implementation and evaluation. Also, assists in the care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies as appropriate.
- Participate in staff meetings and other in-service meetings or committees as required.
- Reports any patient, family, or visitor concerns, along with patient and non-patient area maintenance related deficiencies to the appropriate department.
Work Experience:
One to three years of housekeeping experience.
Position Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Able to work with chemicals.
- Experience operating an auto scrubber, a vacuum and wet/dry vacuum.
- Experience operating high and slow speed buffing machines.
- Experience operating spin bonnets and extracting carpets.
- Knowledge of floor care maintenance and handling of regulated/non-regulated waste.
- Work with others collaboratively, cooperatively and in the spirit of teamwork.
