POSITION TITLE:

Development Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Development Director is a senior, externally focused leader responsible for building, strengthening, and sustaining strategic relationships that advance the Community Health Center of Franklin County’s mission, with a particular emphasis on collaboration, coalition-building, and addressing upstream social determinants of health. This role serves as a primary connector between the health center and key community partners, including school systems, community colleges, public health departments, municipalities, nonprofit organizations, and other community stakeholders.

The Development Director works independently to identify partnership opportunities, convene cross-sector collaborations, and help align community-based efforts that promote health equity, prevention, and community well-being. By fostering trust, shared vision, and coordinated action, this position plays a critical role in expanding the health center’s influence beyond clinical care and supporting long-term, community-driven solutions to health disparities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Develop and maintain strong, mission-aligned relationships with local and regional partners, including school districts, community colleges, public health agencies, municipalities, and community-based organizations.

· Lead and support fundraising initiatives related to community partnerships, including donor cultivation, stewardship, and relationship management with individual donors, foundations, and community supporters aligned with the health center’s mission.

· Collaborate with leadership to identify, research, and support grant development, public funding opportunities, and philanthropic initiatives that align with community partnerships and upstream health strategies.

· Serve as a key liaison between the health center and external stakeholders to support collaborative initiatives addressing social determinants of health, prevention, and health equity.

· Identify opportunities for cross-sector collaboration and coalition-building that advance shared community health goals.

· Facilitate and, when appropriate, convene community coalitions, working groups, and partnerships to promote coordinated strategies and collective impact.

· Represent the health center in community meetings, coalitions, conferences, and public forums to enhance visibility, credibility, and influence.

· Work closely with internal clinical, care management, and community health teams to ensure partnerships are aligned with patient and community needs.

· Identify emerging community needs, gaps, and opportunities through relationship-building, data, and stakeholder engagement, and translate insights into actionable initiatives.

· Support the development of memoranda of understanding (MOUs), partnership agreements, and shared initiatives in coordination with leadership and legal/administrative staff.

· Track and report on partnership activities, outcomes, and impact related to community engagement and social determinants of health initiatives.

· Promote a culture of collaboration, equity, and community accountability in all external-facing work.

· Perform other related duties as assigned in support of the health center’s mission and strategic priorities.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Skills:

· Demonstrated ability to build and sustain strong relationships with diverse community partners and stakeholders.

· Experience facilitating collaboration, coalition-building, or collective impact initiatives across sectors.

· Strong understanding of social determinants of health, health equity, and community-based approaches to improving population health.

· Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; comfortable representing the organization in public and community settings.

· Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities in a mission-driven environment.

· Experience working in or with nonprofit, healthcare, public health, education, or community-based organizations.

· Ability to analyze community needs, identify opportunities, and translate ideas into actionable strategies.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); familiarity with CRM or partnership-tracking systems preferred.

· Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and serving historically underserved and marginalized populations.

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Public Administration, Social Work, Community Development, Education, or a related field required; Master’s degree (MPH, MPA, MSW, or similar) preferred.

· Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in community engagement, partnership development, coalition-building, or related roles, preferably in healthcare or a community-based nonprofit setting.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the required duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent when traveling between Health Center locations where medical care is provided. This position performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.
