Position Description:
A Nursing Assistant's (NA) scope of practice includes helping patients with basic care and activities of daily living. They work under the supervision of Licensed Practical Nurses or Registered Nurses.

Responsibilities:

  • Measure and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, heart rate and temperature
  • Help patients move about the room and guide them in doing range-of-motion exercises
  • Supports and actively contributes to the achievement of the patient's goals associated with the plan of care.
  • Individualizes communication based on the needs of the patients and families
  • Update electronic medical record chart for each patient
  • Report changes in a patient's condition to their supervising nurse
  • Provide companionship and take on a caregiver-like role

Limitations:

  • Cannot administer injections, including insulin
  • Cannot perform tube feeding
  • Cannot perform bowel evacuation

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have one year of patient care experience, or is currently attending an accredited Registered Nursing program and has successfully completed the fundamentals of nursing coursework
  • Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at the time of hire or within two (2) weeks after hire date

Pay Range: $15.50-$20.00/hour DOH
