Job Description

SEWER

BASIC FUNCTION

Being a Combo Sewer includes sewing fully upholstered furniture and indoor/outdoor slipcover to spec.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Standard operation procedures.
2. Must be able to read ticket and job notes for directions and specifications before sewing.
3. Sew seat pieces together, attaching law label where required.
4. Removes arm panels from bundle, and sews arm panels as instructed, following notches and skive marks made by cutting machine for identification.
5. Removes inside back piece from bundle and sews pull strip to bottom of inbacks and inarms.
6. Assembles cushion with pre-made boxing, attaching top first and matching as needed. Turns sewn pieces wrong-side-out and attaches bottom piece to finish cushions, backs, throws.
7. Exercises care and follows the proper safety procedures to prevent injuries to themselves and their co-workers. May perform other duties/special or non-routine assignments as needed.

RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS

Supervisory Relationships:

• Reports to Department Supervisor

Organization Relationships:

• Works with other sewers on a daily basis as needed. Ability to adapt to a team oriented, production atmosphere is required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

High School graduate helpful

Good Communication Skills – oral and written.

3+ years experience in production upholstery fabric sewing in an upholstered furniture manufacturing environment required.
