The Waitstaff position is responsible for providing friendly, attentive, and respectful dining service to residents, their families, and guests within a senior living community. This role focuses on creating a warm, welcoming dining experience by taking orders, serving meals, and maintaining a clean, organized dining environment. Waitstaff build meaningful connections with residents, support their daily routines, and help make each meal an enjoyable and social part of the day. The position plays an important role in promoting comfort, dignity, and a positive community atmosphere through excellent customer service and teamwork.

Requirements:

Monday - Friday 7:00am - 1:30pm

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Utilize proper food handling and food service techniques
  2. Ensure tables are perfectly set, chairs are clean and in place
  3. Take orders from residents, guest or employee in a timely manner. Be knowledgeable for specials and general description of all food items being served
  4. Provide service in a friendly and timely manner
  5. Bus tables and reset for the next meal service according to established policy and procedures
  6. Greet guests in a friendly manner and direct to the proper table
  7. The Food Services supervisor may assign other duties; teamwork is a must – always be prepared to assist your fellow co-workers if you are caught up
  8. Report any resident changes in behavior or safety issues to your supervisor

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Must possess good reading & verbal communication skills
  2. Must express or demonstrate an interest in working with a senior population
  3. Must demonstrate a warm, outgoing personality and a strong work ethic
  4. Must be able to work flexible hours, such as during staff shortages or emergency situations
  5. Must be able to provide Work Permit if under 18 years of age

Typical Physical Demands:

  1. Standing and/or walking for long periods of time as well as bending and stooping. Able to lift/carry medium weight (up to 20 pounds) and push/pull medium weight (up to 60 pounds).
  2. Corrected vision and hearing, color discrimination, depth perception and sense of touch
  3. Motor coordination and manual dexterity necessary to perform various work routines such as serving meals, handling soiled dishes, operating food services equipment and cleaning work areas and dining rooms.
