About This Position
SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Program Director and/or Clinical Nurse Manager of the Wound Care Center, administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Wound Care Center physicians and is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related support systems.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:NOTE:The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification, however, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
1. Keeps complete and accurate patient records as they pertain to treatment documentation.
2. Performs hyperbaric chamber operations and system maintenance as required.
3. Supports clinical hyperbaric facility accreditation as required.
4. Make appropriate entries for daily hyperbaric treatments and wound care clinic visits including photo uploading.
5. Lift patients or transfer per local policy.
6. In charge of all hyperbaric equipment and assumes responsibility for the safe and effective operation and maintenance of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related systems and ancillary components.
7. Make the necessary recommendations for departmental safety policies and incorporate new safety procedures as appropriate.
8. Responsible for maintaining all facility safety-related standards as required by various licensing and regulatory agencies related to hyperbarics. Conducts quarterly hyperbaric chamber fire safety drills which are tailored to improve staff response to emergencies.
9. Support clinical hyperbaric facility accreditation; per the desire of the hospital.
10. Reviews all department safety incidents, collects information regarding equipment/patient safety, reports relevant incidents to the staff, and periodically provides in-services training related to hyperbarics.
11. Maintains a safe environment in the hyperbaric facility for patients and staff and uses approved and recognized decompression procedures for all persons with a hyperbaric exposure to inert gases and evaluates hyperbaric chamber equipment/supplies used in the chamber.
12. Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Required Licenses/Certification: Must be a healthcare professional actively certified or licensed in one of the following vocations; Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic, Registered Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Certified Hyperbaric Specialist, Certified Hyperbaric Technologist, Certified Hyperbaric Wound Specialist, Military Corpsman or Medical Services Specialist, Respiratory Therapist, Physical Therapist, Physical Therapy Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant.
Required Licenses/Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Pay Range $33.13 - $55.22
The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization.
