What You’ll Do:

Requirements:SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Leads and supports our weld team and roughing machining team in the production of high-quality fabricated parts. This role combines deep welding and production expertise with proven leadership capabilities to guide a team of welders and machinists toward meeting quality, safety, and production goals. This role is responsible for daily workflow management, technical training, and ensuring adherence to processes and specifications while actively contributing to continuous improvement efforts and team development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and coordinate team resources to ensure the successful and timely completion of production goals
- Receive, check, and verify sub-parts needed for work orders and jobs; resolve any discrepancies
- Oversee the welding of parts using job build list, drawings, specifications, and procedures
- Make critical adjustments as needed to maintain production rate and quality
- Meet and sustain established quality and production volume performance criteria
- Train welders on established weld processes and procedures
SPECIFIC DUTIES ASSIGNED: Team Leader
- Lead and coordinate the welding team and rough machining activities to ensure efficient workflow and the achievement of daily production targets.
- Set clear expectations for job assignments and performance; monitor progress and provide feedback.
- Coach, train, and mentor welders across all skill levels; drive cross-training to build team flexibility.
- Participate in performance discussions with the supervisor; assist in training plans.
- Make recommendations for improvements to all processes, procedures, and policies
- Lead daily meetings to communicate priorities, safety updates, and productivity goals.
- Provide support to Engineering for the development of fixtures, parts, and processes
- Ensure adherence to all safety policies; model safe behavior and enforce compliance.
Welding & Rough Machining Production Flow
- Interpret job packets, blueprints, weld symbols, and specifications to verify production requirements.
- Oversee the welding of components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions using TIG, MIG, or other methods as required; supporting as needed.
- Maintain equipment and coordinate preventative maintenance schedules with relevant departments.
- Troubleshoot welding and equipment issues, escalating to maintenance or engineering when necessary.
- Monitor heat input and warpage risk to ensure dimensional accuracy and prevent defects.
- Monitor area work volume; confer with operations leaders as needed to ensure efficient department flow
- Input all build data and accurately voucher time and materials into ERP software system
- Visually examine and inspect work in-process for conformance as required
- Promote, guide, and assist others to meet Quality Policy and ISO standards and customer expectations
- Instruct and mentor department members on part cleanliness, uniformity, and workmanship
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive, understand, and communicate daily job assignments, priorities, and work instructions
- Organize, clean, and maintain area tools, and equipment daily
- Assure all department work centers and related areas are safely maintained, clean, and organized
- Performs all work within the scope of abilities under all quality and safety policies and practices
- Establish and maintain effective, positive, and professional communication with all co-workers
- Willingly performs other duties as trained and able
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads all weld and rough machining personnel to meet production goals by setting priorities
- Monitor daily attendance and timekeeping; including time off requests
- Conduct regular performance reviews and informal check-ins to provide feedback
- Enforce company policies consistently; document and administer disciplinary actions
- Conduct interviews for department staff; provide input for hiring decisions
- Support employee development through coaching, mentoring, and identifying training opportunities
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Must possess a verifiable high school diploma or equivalent (GED), AWS Certification preferred
Must have a minimum of 8-10 years of welding or relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
Must have a minimum of 5 years leading a team
