Job Overview

Southern Contracting is seeking Quality Control Manager / Superintendent (QCMs) to overseeand implement project-specific Quality Control Programs on federal heavy civil constructionprojects. In this critical role, you will ensure all work meets NAVFAC/USACE standards, contractspecifications, drawings, and applicable codes through inspections, testing, and documentation.You'll coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and government representatives toresolve quality issues quickly and effectively while driving compliance, safety, and performanceexcellence.

This is a field-based role requiring relocation to project sites (typical duration 6-18 months). Aspart of our federal contracting team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring every project meetsthe highest standards of quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

As a Quality Control Manager, you will:

Implement and manage the project-specific Quality Control Program in compliance with USACE/NAVFAC requirements.

Conduct and document three-phase inspections (Preparatory, Initial, Follow-Up).

Manage submittals, daily reporting, and quality documentation for federal compliance.

Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and government representatives toresolve quality-related issues.

Ensure all work complies with specifications, drawings, safety standards, and codes.

Monitor and enforce EM385 and OSHA 30 safety standards across the project.

Lead quality meetings, testing coordination, and verification of corrective actions.

Provide timely problem-solving and support to field leadership.

Travel & Assignment Details

Travel Requirement: 100% travel from project to project

Project Duration: Typically 624 months per site

Project Locations: Anywhere in the continental U.S., with most work in the Southeast

Housing & Transportation:

Lodging provided 100% while on the jobsite

Company vehicle provided for jobsite use

Optional rental car may be provided while home, if needed

Home Travel:

Flights home provided up to six (6) times per year, when project schedules allow

Meals & Per Diem:

Meals provided when housed in hotels without a kitchen

Compensation Growth:

Salary increases commonly occur after the first project or within year one, based on

performance.

Single-project ownership

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction quality control (10+ years preferred).

Valid USACE Contractor Quality Control Management (CQCM) certificate (required).

Familiarity with USACE/NAVFAC specifications and the federal construction process.

OSHA 30 and EM385 certifications required.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage documentation under strict deadlines.

Must be able to pass State & Federal background checks for access to military bases and federal facilities.

Willingness to relocate to project sites for durations of 6-18 months at a time.
