About This Position
Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast; with offices located throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee.
GMC has an opening for a Coastal Engineering Technical Leader that will use extensive industry knowledge and heightened strategic planning abilities to assist in making decisions that can promote company growth and support on-going projects across our company footprint. The ideal candidate will be able to work in one of our coastal offices to include Tampa, Pensacola, Savannah, Charleston or New Orleans.
The preferred candidate will have a strong track record of winning and executing coastal engineering projects related to shore protection, navigation, hazards, infrastructure, resilience, and/or marina/port/waterfront development.
Essential functions and responsibilities include:
- Ability to build and manage a successful team
- Develops broad knowledge of the design process and understands Company standards
- Produce a set of plans with minimal instructions from others
- Assists with developing standards and guidelines
- Prepares scopes, budgets and schedules for assignments
- Independently performs most assignments
- Interacts and develops relationships with regulatory personnel and clients
- Expresses a keen understanding of the industry and the expectations of the client
- Demonstrates the leadership required for effective team contributions to the firm’s success including contributions to client relationships and opportunity generation.
- Is technically responsible as related to overall planning and project development
- Manage client satisfaction for assigned clients or projects
- Leads the development of projects from opportunity analysis and building marketing proposals through maintaining client satisfaction for future opportunities
- Represent the firm in all aspects of projects and assignments to prospective employees, clients, and the communities we serve
- Possess effective oral and written communication skills
- Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with key officials or other organizations, and is skilled in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues
- Spends time outside of the office generating opportunities, developing relationships within their community
Minimum Qualifications:
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Professional Engineering license
- Master’s Degree (or higher) in Civil/Coastal Engineering
