Thompson Rivers University invites applications for a bipartite, tenure-track position at the rank of assistant teaching professor in the Respiratory Therapy Program, Allied Health Department, Faculty of Science.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach on the theory of assessment and application of respiratory therapy practice in a variety of settings which may include any of the following: classroom, laboratory, and simulation environments. The anticipated start date is August 3rd 2026.
The department has broad interests and seeks a faculty member who demonstrates effective teamwork and communication skills, dissemination of knowledge, and the potential for scholarly activity. In addition to these broad interests, credentials and experience in areas of anesthesia, certified respiratory education, simulation coordination, and/or interdisciplinary education and research will also be given additional considerations.
- Baccalaureate degree in relevant discipline; Masters degree preferred
- RRT credential from an accredited Canadian program
- A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience; Respiratory Therapy Students preferred. Teaching experience can include multiple formats and/or types of learners but needs to be formal teaching beyond preceptoring clinical students at a bedside. Some examples may include in-servicing, interdisciplinary education sessions, client & family education workshops.
- Recent clinical experience of 5 years or greater (time as a clinical student will NOT count towards the 5 years)
- Evidence of effective teamwork and constructive communication skills
- Evidence of dissemination of knowledge at regional, provincial, or national levels
- Evidence of research experience or the potential for scholarly activity and research
- Additional considerations will be given to candidates with one or more of the following:
- CCAA credential
- CRE credential
- Evidence of leading projects within Interdisciplinary Education and/or Research
- Evidence of leading and/or managing a healthcare simulation center or program, preferably multi-disciplinary and low to high fidelity. Bottom of Form
