The Role of the Deputy Chief of Family Engagement

The Deputy Chief of Family & Community Engagement (FACE) serves as a key member of the executive leadership team at Rocky Mountain Prep, a 12-school charter management organization serving 650+ employees and thousands of students and families.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the FACE Deputy Chief leads the organization’s strategy to ensure strong family partnership, student enrollment and persistence, and deep community connection. This role oversees Enrollment, Family Engagement, Community Outreach, and Health & Wellness, ensuring families are engaged, supported, and empowered from initial enrollment through long-term success.

The FACE Deputy Chief ensures that every family experiences Rocky Mountain Prep as welcoming, responsive, and inclusive, and that the organization builds meaningful, trust-based relationships within the communities it serves—aligned with RMP’s mission and PEAK values (Perseverance, Excellence, Adventure, Kindness).

The Deputy Chief Family Engagement at RMP will…

Family & Community Strategy
  • Develop and execute the vision and strategy for family and community engagement across the network, in partnership with the CEO and senior leadership team.
  • Develop a cohesive, end-to-end family experience from recruitment through persistence and re-engagement.
  • Ensure alignment across enrollment, family engagement, health & wellness, and community outreach.
  • Serve as the senior leader responsible for implementing family satisfaction, trust-building, and community presence strategies across the network.
Enrollment & Re-Engagement

Recruitment, Persistence, ADA & Re-Entry

  • Oversee student recruitment strategy to meet and exceed enrollment targets across all schools.
  • Lead enrollment operations, including application, lottery, onboarding, and registration processes.
  • Drive student persistence and attendance (ADA) strategies in partnership with schools and engagement teams.
  • Oversee re-engagement strategies for students who have disengaged or withdrawn.
  • Use data to identify enrollment trends, gaps, and opportunities for growth and retention.
Family Engagement & Satisfaction

Partnerships, Events & Communication

  • Build and lead a comprehensive family engagement strategy that fosters strong partnerships with families.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality communication with families across all schools.
  • Oversee family-facing events, workshops, and engagement opportunities.
  • Monitor and improve family satisfaction through surveys, feedback systems, and direct engagement.
  • Partner with school leaders to ensure strong, consistent family experience at every campus.
Community Outreach & External Relations

Partnerships & Neighborhood Relations

  • Lead the organization’s external engagement strategy with community partners, local organizations, and neighborhood stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships that support enrollment, student success, and community impact.
  • Represent Rocky Mountain Prep in the community and strengthen the organization’s brand and presence.
  • Partner closely with the CEO on high-level external relationships and community strategy.
  • Align outreach efforts with enrollment goals and organizational priorities.
Health & Wellness

Student & Family Wellbeing Programs

  • Oversee the vision and strategy for student and family health and wellness across the network.
  • Directly manage the Director of Health & Wellness, who leads day-to-day program design and implementation.
  • Ensure access to high-quality physical, mental, and social-emotional health supports for students and families.
  • Align wellness initiatives with attendance, persistence, and academic success goals.
  • Partner with internal teams (e.g., Mental Health, Student Services, Schools) to ensure integrated support systems.
  • Hire, develop, and support a Director of Health & Wellness (RN preferred) to lead wellness programming.
  • Ensure the function evolves from service delivery to strategic driver of student and family wellbeing.
  • Leverage health and wellness data to inform broader organizational strategy (attendance, engagement, persistence)
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Partner with the executive team to aling enrollment, family engagement, compliance, wellness, resource allocation, and long-term planning.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless, high-quality family and community experience.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Demonstrated experience leading enrollment strategy, including student recruitment, persistence, re-engagement, and family-facing enrollment systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate multiple functions, such as family engagement, enrollment, community partnerships, student persistence, and health and wellness, into a cohesive strategy.
  • Experience managing teams, developing leaders, and creating clear systems of accountability across related workstreams.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build trust with families, staff, community partners, and diverse communities.
  • Ability to use data and stakeholder feedback to identify needs, strengthen family experience, and improve student persistence and engagement.
  • Strong judgment and responsiveness in complex or sensitive family and community situations.
  • Deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and serving historically marginalized communities.

Preferred:

  • Experience leading family engagement, community partnerships, health and wellness, or student support initiatives in a school, nonprofit, public sector, or community-based setting.
  • Experience building or strengthening systems that improve family satisfaction, student persistence, and access to services or supports.
  • Experience managing external partnerships, community-facing events, or cross-functional initiatives that require coordination across schools and central teams.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Education, Public Administration, Social Work, Public Health, or related field preferred.

Years of experience (total overall years of experience and years of directly relevant experience required): 5-10 years of progressive experience, including leadership, in family engagement, enrollment, community relations, or related fields.

Salary

$175,000 - 240,000 annually. This range reflects the full growth potential of the role over time. Rocky Mountain Prep typically expects to place candidates in the lower- to middle-range, depending on experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.
