About This Position
Van’s Aircraft is seeking a dependable and hands-on Maintenance to support the day-to-day operation of our manufacturing and office facilities in Aurora, Oregon. This role will be a team of one and will be responsible for manufacturing facilities maintenance and some office facilities maintenance but also have responsibilities for preventative maintenance schedules of machining equipment within a sheet metal fabrication environment which includes punch presses, CNCs, and more. This role is critical to maintaining a safe, functional, and efficient work environment for our teams. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently across a wide range of facility and equipment maintenance needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise the work order system designed to establish priority and control over maintenance request from plant personnel. Ensures that work order requests are completed by the assigned deadline.
• Responsible for communicating daily with all levels of the employees in order to assist in resolving problems and achieving company goals.
• Participate in development and maintaining of Preventive Maintenance Schedule program for applicable equipment and machinery.
• Leads by example and imposes all safety and operational procedures; promote and ensure a safe working environment in compliance with company and regulatory standards by coaching and guiding associates on safety procedures and maintain compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Monitor, review, and audit the operation of plant equipment and systems to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.
• Work cross functionally and collaboratively in a wide range of activities.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state laws.
• Coordinate construction projects, remodels, and other special projects with third-party contractor support, as needed.
• Participate in the preparation and administration of the maintenance budget. Including submitting recommendations, monitoring expenditures, and preparing cost estimates.
• Perform all duties in a safe manner.
• Utilize maintenance strategies to eliminate failures.
• Maintain a solid understanding of customer expectations and deliverables with an awareness of the impact of failure/cost of poor quality.
• All other duties, as assigned.
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
• 5+ years of maintenance experience
• 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• OSHA safety training or similar certifications (preferred)
• Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs
• Experience working with outside contractors and service providers
• LME License in Oregon (preferred)
• Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) experience a plus, but not a requirement
• Knowledgeable in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CMMS
• Solid knowledge of schematics and blueprints
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Effective communication and people management skills
• Demonstrated track record of leading small groups
• Familiar with Triumph Punch Presses and Hass CNC machining equipment
• Solutions-based mind set
Work Environment:
This role works primarily onsite in a manufacturing and office setting and involves regular physical activity, including standing, walking, lifting, bending, and working with tools and equipment. The Facilities & Maintenance Technician will interact regularly with employees across departments and must be comfortable working in active production areas.
