Position Summary:

The Store Manager is responsible for the planning, directing, and controlling of store operations ensuring maximum sales and profitability through exceptional guest service, marketing, merchandising, inventory, personnel management and controlling operating costs and shrinkage. The Store Manager will provide responsible and accountable fiscal management of retail operations by implementing and maintaining internal control standards and ensuring compliance of operational policies and procedures. The incumbent shall demonstrate sound leadership principles in all aspects of staff supervision and management to assure high morale, team member retention, and exceptional service delivery.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

The Nett Lake Store Manager is responsible for the following duties:

  • Ensure monthly promotional programs are followed and that team members understand and are familiar with all promotions and promotional merchandise.
  • Develop creative in-store merchandise displays and coordinate sales promotion activities; prepare and/or direct team members engaged in sales work.
  • Motivate team members to “suggestive sell” products and services to guests.
  • Listen closely to guests’ needs and offer ideas on how to improve product selection and service to meet those needs.
  • Look for opportunities and offer suggestions to increase sales and reduce operating costs.
  • Operate and maintain a clean, well-merchandised and safe environment for team members and guests at all times, including outside of the store.
  • Properly price merchandise and availability of products.
  • Direct training of all team members to assure satisfactory performance and guest satisfaction in sales, service, and equipment required to perform essential job duties.
  • Motivate team members and monitor performance in providing a high level of excellence in guest service.
  • Post daily and seasonal food and store specials on outside signage.
  • Ensure that each Guest receives outstanding guest service by providing a ”guest friendly” environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every guest, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of guest service.
  • Ensure that team members handle guest transactions within 90 seconds of the guest approaching the sales counter.
  • Resolve guest complaints or issues expeditiously to a positive outcome.
  • Formulate pricing policies on merchandise according to requirements for profitability for store operations.
  • Accurately price all products in the store that accepts a price tag with the exception of fresh bakery goods.
  • Check product freshness dates and codes to assure that only current products are offered to guests.
  • Monitor product movement and inventory levels to ensure that the floor is adequately stocked; rotate merchandise on a first in, first out basis.
  • Order merchandise or prepare requisitions to replenish merchandise, fuel and food product on a timely basis.
  • Ensure that products, shelving, displays, counters and equipment are routinely maintained and cleaned.
  • Ensure the effective placement of promotional signage and marketing displays and presentations.
  • Analyze and measure business trends; develop and implement plans to maximize sales and meet or exceed goals and objectives.
  • Control shrinkage and overhead expenses including labor.
  • Comparison shop and make price adjustments.
  • Maintain operating records and transactions and prepare/record daily record of transactions for accounting of all store operations.
  • Ensure proper recording of transactions, deposits, reconciliation and recordkeeping of Laundromat sales and receipts.

  • Ensures completion of all daily, weekly, and monthly administrative reports
  • Develop an annual budget and monitor monthly financial statements.
  • Prepare deposits from the previous day’s business.
  • Ensures all team members understand and follow all company policies, guidelines and procedure.
  • Recruits, interviews and trains team members to ensure adequate staffing levels and minimize payment of overtime.
  • Plan and prepare work schedules and assign team members to specific duties.
  • Ensure compliance of team members with established security, sales, and record keeping procedures and practices.
  • Ensure that shifts are covered in emergency/sick/vacation situations.
  • May work on weekend or afternoon shifts and perform work of subordinates as needed.
  • Continually evaluate and correct team member performance issues; conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend pay increases.
  • Train and develop store supervisors in all aspects of business; direct and monitor training and development for all store personnel.
  • Confer with or seek advisement from the Human Resources department regarding hiring, termination, investigations, leave requests, unemployment, wages and benefits.
  • Posts jobs with designated Human Resources staff.
  • Know and use all emergency response procedures in case of gas overflows, fire, accidents, injuries, or robbery.
  • Ensure staff are trained and knowledgeable in the use of fire extinguishers and emergency exits.
  • Ensure all walkways, entrances, (indoor and outdoor) and driveways are clear of obstructions, including snow and ice; coordinates snow removal when necessary.
  • Ensure that all vendors are checking in properly according to the Company Vendor Check-In Policy.
  • Report all workplace injuries to Human Resources within 24 hours and ensure First Report of Injury forms are immediately filled out and submitted.
  • Ensure adherence to cleanliness and sanitation standards for food preparation and service; ensure food service workers are certified in food safety.
  • Arrange for repair and maintenance of equipment, fixtures; monitors preventative maintenance schedules on all equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications – Education and Experience:


Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 years of retail management experience.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Excel.
  • ServSafe certification must be completed within the first 6 months in the position.
  • Strong customer service skills.
