This role sits at the heart of a mission-driven healthcare technology organization building a large-scale patient engagement platform used by hundreds of organizations serving underserved populations. You will work across the full stack, shaping both backend services and modern frontend experiences that directly impact how clinics manage care and communicate with patients. The environment is fast-moving, collaborative, and deeply product-focused, with a strong emphasis on ownership and end-to-end delivery. You will design and ship complex features that improve operational efficiency for healthcare providers while ensuring high usability for non-technical users. This position also involves mentoring other engineers, contributing to architectural decisions, and helping define technical direction. It is a high-impact role where engineering work is tightly connected to real-world health equity outcomes at scale.

Accountabilities

You will take ownership of complex full-stack features and contribute to the evolution of a large-scale SaaS platform supporting healthcare providers, ensuring scalable, reliable, and user-friendly solutions.

  • Design, build, and maintain end-to-end features across a Ruby on Rails backend and React frontend, including APIs, data models, UI components, and workflows
  • Lead technical execution of product features, breaking down complex requirements into scalable engineering solutions
  • Contribute to architectural decisions across backend and frontend systems, including API design, monolith evolution, and SPA structure
  • Mentor and guide L2 engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical coaching
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Data, and Customer Success teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Ensure code quality through testing, best practices, and maintainable engineering standards
  • Participate in on-call rotations and support production systems
  • Contribute to technical documentation, PRDs, and team engineering rituals to improve alignment and execution
Requirements

You bring deep full-stack engineering expertise with a strong ability to own and deliver complex systems in production environments while mentoring others and influencing technical direction.

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with strong expertise in Ruby on Rails and React (or modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks)
  • Proven experience building and scaling full-stack production web applications end-to-end
  • Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including design patterns, system architecture, and SDLC best practices
  • Advanced SQL skills and ability to work with complex datasets for analysis and troubleshooting
  • Experience designing and maintaining APIs, including REST or JSON-based services for SPA architectures
  • Strong frontend engineering skills, including React hooks, state management, and component-based design
  • Experience writing automated tests and maintaining high code quality standards
  • Ability to independently lead large feature development from discovery through production
  • Strong communication skills in fully remote, cross-functional environments
  • Experience in mission-driven, healthcare, or regulated environments is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and contribute to technical leadership
Benefits
  • Competitive salary aligned with senior-level engineering roles
  • Fully remote work with flexible scheduling
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents
  • Paid parental leave and strong family support policies
  • Generous PTO, wellness days, and company-wide holidays
  • Annual professional development budget for learning and growth
  • 401(k) retirement plan and additional financial benefits
  • Wellness support including mental, physical, and emotional health resources
  • Equity or long-term incentive opportunities depending on role level
  • Collaborative, mission-driven environment focused on health equity impact
