Location: New York City, New York

Description: HTI is seeking an experienced Sales Engineer for a large, well-established, international company that provides advanced steam and water management systems to large hospitals and industrial facilities. This is a direct-hire, full-time, hybrid/remote position located in New York City. The base salary range is approximately $110,000 - $135,000 / year, and the company offers a lucrative quarterly bonus program.
Summary:
Lead sales and business development activities with hospital system customers to provide customized steam and thermal energy solutions within the NYC market. The Sales Engineer will partner with hospital stakeholders, engineering firms, and contractors to deliver compliant, high-value solutions that support operational efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance. The company offers in-depth training for new Sales Engineers on their specific products and services, advanced internal systems/software, well-established/proven sales processes, as well as an experienced, global team of Applications Engineers available to assist with technical questions at any time.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing/Communications, Engineering, or a similar/applicable field of study
- Familiarity with steam systems, water management, or utilities operations and design within industrial or healthcare settings; technical and commercial experience in healthcare utilities, sterilization, HVAC, domestic hot water and/or steam applications preferred
- 3+ years of experience as a Sales Engineer, Applications Engineer, Technical Sales Specialist, or Engineer with a similar manufacturing company, EPC/engineering firm, or facilities installation contractor that provides utilities equipment and services to large healthcare or industrial facilities
- Proven competency in value-based and consultative selling methodologies
- Project management experience is a plus
- Professional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively navigate complex hospital organizational structures and influence decision-making across multiple stakeholder groups
- Familiarity with healthcare compliance and regulatory considerations preferred
- Must be self-driven, dynamic, high-achieving professional with strong teamwork, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Must currently reside in the NYC area
Job duties include:
- Develop hospital accounts within the NYC territory by leveraging both hunter and farmer sales approaches aligned with the pre-established sales plan/strategy and target list
- Provide new hospital clients with a comprehensive understanding of the company’s steam and thermal
- energy solutions, emphasizing patient safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance
- Determine sales potential of companies, prioritize accounts, and develop action plans to penetrate the market, including cold calling and canvassing techniques
- Lead discovery sessions with stakeholders to identify compliance, performance, and operational improvement opportunities
- Drive successful conversion of identified solutions
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders through structured consultative selling
- Expand market share within targeted accounts in the region
- Ensure customers receive accurate and timely quotations for products/services and expedite orders as needed
- Ability to conduct presentations for customers showcasing value creation and return on investment
- Collaborate with external partners, engineering firms and installation contractors to ensure accurate design, installation, and execution
- Ensure that all equipment, solutions and services align with the customer’s regulatory and industry requirements
- Actively participate in sales on-boarding program, sales training and hospitals focused education programs
- Engage with ASHE local chapter and healthcare industry bodies supporting their education programs, bringing innovation and collecting the voice of the customer
- Train end users and channel partners on products and services through informal sessions, lunch & learn sessions and formal presentations
