About This Position
The Opportunity
Silver Falls Capital is a Washington State-based holding company with a portfolio of operating companies building real products in transit infrastructure, construction tech, and critical asset protection — markets that are growing, underserved, and not well-served by conventional marketing playbooks.
This role sits within SFC's Digital and Growth team and reports directly to the VP/GM of Digital and Growth. We're in the middle of building something: a marketing-led growth engine across a portfolio of companies that have historically grown through relationships and technical credibility, not marketing. That's both the challenge and the opportunity.
The Portfolio Marketing Manager owns the execution system that makes marketing-generated revenue repeatable — developing Growth Playbook modules, managing an external partner network, and building the commercial capability that compounds over time. You'll work closely with OpCo leaders who know their markets deeply, a small but capable SFC technology team, and an evolving mix of agency and contractor partners.
This isn't a role where you'll be handed a finished system and asked to run it. The system is still being built, and you'll have a hand in shaping it. If you're someone who finds that energizing — who wants to see their fingerprints on how a portfolio learns to market itself — this is the kind of role that's hard to find.
You'll need to be equally comfortable directing specialists and rolling up your sleeves. The person who thrives here moves fluidly between strategic framing and hands-on execution, builds trust with stakeholders, and holds external partners accountable without needing org-chart authority to do it.
Key Success Factors:
- Drive marketing-generated revenue across the portfolio by directing agencies, contractors, and AI-assisted resources — and personally executing when the situation calls for it
- Hold external partners accountable to outcomes with the credibility of someone who understands the craft: you can read a campaign brief, evaluate SEO work, pressure-test ad copy, and QA an email sequence
- Own the development and localization of Growth Playbook modules — translating proven marketing practices into repeatable, OpCo-ready frameworks that raise the marketing capability floor across the entire portfolio
- Build and sustain a marketing execution playbook that meaningfully accelerates campaign velocity across portfolio companies
- Centralize performance accountability without centralizing strategy or eroding OpCo autonomy
- Develop a diversified, well-coordinated partner network
- Standardize how the portfolio learns: document what works, what doesn't, and why - and make sure that knowledge compounds
- Apply AI-assisted tools thoughtfully to expand execution capacity without compromising quality
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Own and grow marketing-generated and marketing-influenced revenue across portfolio companies
- Own specific Growth Playbook modules end-to-end: research best practices, develop the framework, pilot with an OpCo, iterate based on results, and package for portfolio-wide rollout
- Localize playbook modules to each OpCo's market context, buyer profile, and commercial maturity
- Own the project management layer between OpCo stakeholders and the external partner network
- Run prioritization, sprint planning, and capacity allocation across the partner network to eliminate bottlenecks and sustain execution velocity
- Build and manage portfolio-level marketing performance dashboards; lead regular reporting cadences with OpCo and SFC leadership
- Translate performance data into actionable optimization recommendations across channels
- Collaborate with technical counterparts to identify and scope AI-assisted workflows for marketing monitoring and execution
- Support cross-portfolio marketing infrastructure initiatives including Martech operations, campaign architecture, and MCAE/Pardot configuration as needed
- Performs other related duties as assigned
AI-Assisted Marketing Planning & Execution:
We believe AI is fundamentally changing how lean marketing teams plan, execute, and monitor campaigns. We don't expect you to arrive as an AI agent builder — but we do expect you to arrive with genuine curiosity, a clear-eyed view of where AI creates real leverage in marketing, and the willingness to be an early adopter as we build this capability together. This means:
- A working understanding of how AI tools can accelerate marketing planning, content production, performance monitoring, and reporting
- Ability to identify where AI-assisted workflows could eliminate bottlenecks or scale output
- An honest, critical eye for AI output — knowing when to trust it, when to edit it, and when to set it aside
Expected Behaviors Aligned With Cultural Values and Anchors:
- Teamwork Matters — Demonstrate low ego and a wins-or-fails-together mindset. Leverage your expertise generously across OpCo teams. Hold yourself and partners to consistent accountability, and bring fierce resolve when execution gets hard.
- Is Curious, Takes Action — Think critically and learn from campaign failures rather than repeating them. Go to the source — understand what's actually happening in each OpCo's market before optimizing. Hold thoughtful convictions, stay agile with change, and benchmark relentlessly against what great marketing looks like.
- Sets a High Bar — Think bigger than the campaign brief. Be impatient with the status quo and push for stretch goals over safe ones. Focus on revenue outcomes and pipeline impact, not just activity metrics.
- Champions the SFW — Embrace, implement, and actively improve The Silver Falls Way. Master the tools and principles of how we operate, and become a teacher — helping OpCo teams grow their own marketing capability.
- Acts with Respect & Integrity — Be self-aware, responsible, and truthful. Build trust by being internally consistent — say what you mean, do what you say. Do the right thing always, even when no one is watching.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
- 6+ years of experience spanning multiple B2B marketing disciplines — including at least three of: SEM/paid media, SEO and content marketing, email and marketing automation, demand generation, or product/field marketing
- A proven track record of driving marketing-generated pipeline and revenue, not just campaign activity
- Demonstrated ability to manage agencies and contractors with accountability for business outcomes
- Hands-on execution experience: you have personally written briefs, built campaigns, analyzed performance, and optimized programs
- Strong project management skills — you can build a system, run it, and improve it without being told to
- Experience owning marketing performance reporting and translating data into decisions
- Comfortable operating without full org-chart authority; you influence through trust, clarity, and subject-matter credibility
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to engage effectively with both technical and commercial stakeholders
- Self-directed with experience thriving in ambiguous, fast-growth environments
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Familiarity with B2B IoT, transit technology, healthcare, or municipal/government sales cycles
- Genuine curiosity about AI-assisted marketing and a track record of adopting new tools early
- Experience building or scaling marketing resource pool
- Prior experience in a multi-brand portfolio, holding company, or agency environment
- Working fluency with martech platforms — Salesforce/MCAE (Pardot) experience
