Position Summary:
The UNM-Valencia Campus Upward BoundProgram is taking applications for Teacher, Pre-College Programs. This is agrant-funded, on-call position with current funding available through08/31/2026. This position oversees certain day-to-day aspects of the UpwardBound Program including but not limited to tutoring, leading workshops,teaching, and executing college preparation/academic lessons for high schoolstudents. Position locations and areas of instruction are:
This person will assist with tutoring andinstructing during the Academic Year. This position provides support inlanguage arts or other pre-college disciplines at area high schools and atUNM-Valencia Campus; Practices various pedagogical practices to enhance studentacademic progress as well as gain the skills necessary to transition from highschool to higher education; Supports and engages students in collegepreparatory topics; Documents student progress, attendance, and other studenttracking tasks.
Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in ruralValencia County, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-yearbranch campus of the University of New Mexico which functions as a communitycollege in the region and is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academictransfer programs, technical vocational programs, Adult Basic Education, andDual Credit High School/College courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of over 2,000 students per semester.UNM has earned the platinum-level distinction from FamilyFriendlyNM.org for itsworkplace policies.
