Cadence, Inc., is seeking a Buyer/Planner at our Sturgeon Bay, WI facility. The purpose of this role is to ensure that the organization’s supply chain functions smoothly and efficiently. As Buyer, you will procure goods and services, and handle sourcing, negotiating, and acquiring the necessary items to meet the organization’s needs. As Scheduler, you will enter and maintain work orders that drive our production schedule, ensuring customer order dates are met.

Essential Duties and Requirements:

  • Conduct research to identify potential suppliers and negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers, including price, delivery schedules, payment terms, and other contractual terms.
  • Generate and manage purchase orders. Expedite order delivery as necessary to ensure we are able to meet our scheduling requirements.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers. Communicate regularly to ensure smooth transactions and address any issues that may arise.
  • Analyze costs associated with the procurement process, seeking opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Work with suppliers to establish and maintain quality standards. Monitor and evaluate supplier performance to ensure compliance with quality and delivery requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of procurement activities.
  • Enter work orders into our production schedule based on customer order requests, ensuring material, labor and equipment availability allow for the appropriate sequencing of processes to meet customer order deadlines.
  • Provide daily updates to other departments regarding changes to the schedule, material and equipment availability.
  • Working closely with the Production Supervisor, lead a weekly scheduling meeting to review opportunities and challenges to the established schedule. Adjust schedules as needed to optimize resource utilization.

What are we seeking in the ideal candidate?

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain or a minimum 2-year experience in buying and/or scheduling in a manufacturing operation.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Suite, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Must be capable of multi-tasking, working both as a team and independently, prioritizing primary responsibilities, and coping well with ambiguity.
  • Strong working knowledge in materials management and scheduling theories, processes, and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be well organized and have keen attention to detail.

Physical Demands: Should be able to function in an office setting while occasionally being out in the production environment. Must be able to tolerate sitting and working with a computer for extended periods of time. Fine motor skills are utilized when typing and using various office machines. Requires clear verbal communication, hearing ability and clear vision or reasonable alternative. Ability to move throughout our facility safely and effectively and interact with employees
