POSITION SUMMARY

As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you’ll provide safe and dignified patient transport services across both the Craig Hospital and Swedish Medical Center campuses, while also performing critical phlebotomy duties and specimen processing in accordance with best practices and institutional protocols. Whether transferring a patient with care or collecting lab specimens with precision, your work will help ensure every patient's experience is seamless, respectful, and clinically sound.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide compassionate, efficient, and safe transport of Craig Hospital patients between Craig and Swedish Medical Center, while observing for any changes in condition during transit.
  • Collaborate with nursing, respiratory therapy, and other interdisciplinary staff to coordinate transport logistics and meet individualized care needs.
  • Execute safe patient handling, padding, and transfers in accordance with Craig Hospital protocols and best practices.
  • Demonstrate expertise in phlebotomy, including venipuncture techniques and specimen collection, while adhering to infection control and patient safety standards.
  • Accurately process and prepare lab specimens for shipment or internal analysis, following established guidelines and using appropriate equipment.
  • Communicate clearly with physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals to relay diagnostic information and support continuity of care.
  • Maintain thorough, accurate documentation through electronic health records and data entry platforms.
  • Exhibit excellent organizational and time-management skills, balancing multiple priorities while ensuring timely transport and lab processing.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality standards in all aspects of patient interaction and data management.
  • Serve as a calm and responsive presence during crisis situations, enacting emergency protocols when needed.
  • Actively engage in training and competency assessments, maintaining full compliance with annual requirements and departmental procedures.
  • Promote a culture of safety, respect, and teamwork in all interactions with patients, families, and staff.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Licensure & Certification:

  • Current BLS certification with the American Heart Association (required)
  • Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) credential (preferred)

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED (required)

Experience:

  • One year of direct patient care or nurse assistant experience (preferred)
  • One year of phlebotomy experience in a clinical setting (Required)

  • Proficiency in safe patient handling, transport safety, and mobility support
  • Attention to detail in both mechanical and technical tasks
  • Excellent organization and time management, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Comfort with technology and electronic documentation systems
  • Ability to take direction, work independently, and collaborate across teams
  • Proven ability to remain professional, responsive, and solution-focused during emergencies
  • Spanish-speaking ability (preferred)

Craig Hospital Benefits:

Per-Diem Positions:

Employees who are not benefit eligible due to working less than 24 hours/ week or being Per-Diem are able to participate in Craig Hospital’s 403B Retirement plan through Empower Retirement. Additionally, you would be able to take advantage of the programs offered through the Employee Assistance Programs.

Pay Range: $18.65/ Hour - $26.86/ Hour + Shift Differentials

+ 12% Per-Diem Differential
