About This Position

Job Title: Stewardship Officer

Department: Development

Reports To: Manager, Donor Relations & Stewardship

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Summary:

The Stewardship Officer is primarily responsible for implementing and recording donor stewardship efforts to build a deeper relationship with donors with the goal of increasing donor retention and the possibility of elevating donors to the major giving level.

Specific Duties:

  • Call donors to thank them for their gift and engage in conversation to build a strong relationship between the donor and SVdP
  • Communicate regularly via phone, email, visits, tours, etc. with existing Mid/Major donors to develop relationships and build a stewardship portfolio for donor management and potential major gift opportunities
  • Implement efforts to reinstate lapsed donors
  • Perform any other duties assigned by Manager, Legacy & Gift Planning
  • Oversee our Cornerstone Circle (monthly giving program estimated 2K donors)
  • In-office tasks (80% of time) include Writing birthday cards, Valentine/Thanksgiving/Christmas cards, new monthly giving letter/call, thank you cards, supporting other monthly need and supporting in office staff with inbound calls.
  • Keeping an accurate monthly donor report as people join/leave Cornerstone.
  • Out of-office tasks (20% of time) giving campus tours, meeting donors for "virtual tours" and other such as Check-in Meetings, serving alongside them in our programs, (etc).
  • Partnership with marketing to create new ways for people to join our Cornerstone circle. Have worked closely with her to ensure a smooth "donor's journey" for monthlies in our new platform.
  • Answering inbox, design holiday/birthday cards, help Office Manager with larger scale development tasks, attending team meetings, etc

Desired Skills/Abilities:

  • Highly detailed and organized.
  • A strong desire to engage with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to find ways to serve stakeholders and "get to yes."
  • Proficient and/or able to learn database administration (Salesforce), MS Office tools, and standard office equipment (copiers, printers, etc.).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adaptability and perseverance.
  • Flexible schedule and ability to manage/organize events that may be at nights or on weekends (in uncommon instances).

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience
  • In lieu of an Associates degree, 1.5+ years of directly related experience in the field or function may be considered.
  • Relevance matters: Experience must align with the knowledge, skills, and competencies typically gained through a degree.
  • Progressive responsibility: Experience that shows increasing levels of responsibility and complexity is often favored.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work in an office setting (sitting and/or standing), reach, and lift up to 20 pounds are required for this position.
  • Reliable transportation to fulfill local travel requirements.
