Firestone Pacific Foods (FPF) grows, freezes, and packs frozen fruit products on behalf of food retailers and foodservice companies in the United States and overseas. Our fruit is harvested at the peak of ripeness, processed, and packed in our state-of-the art facilities shipment with a keen attention to quality and food safety.

The Firestone Family began farming in the Vancouver, WA, in 1896. In 2019, an impact investment fund managed by Agriculture Capital acquired FPF to build out a low cost, vertically integrated supply chain of high quality, organic blueberries operating at scale to address growing global demand for this nutritious fruit.

Position Summary

Reporting to the VP of Finance, this position will oversee all day-to-day accounting and finance activities, manage, and lead a team, review financials, and perform accounting duties according to GAAP, internal financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting, cash management and cash flow analysis, and partner closely with internal stakeholders. In addition, the Controller will review and create better efficiencies with month end close, reporting, and accounting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for numerous aspects of month-end close including preparation of monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, and critical analysis of changes in account balances to ensure accurate balances are reflected in the financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Development and ongoing preparation of month-end financial reporting packages, other internal management reports, and external bank compliance reporting.
  • Maintenance of and comparative analysis against annual budget, and interim forecasts.
  • Historical financial statement review and correction as necessary.
  • Develop and implement best practices for accounting policies and procedures, providing training to staff as necessary.
  • Maximize efficiencies, organize work processes and procedures, and automate procedures through system improvements.
  • Oversee full accounting operations and financial reporting.
  • Oversee tax compliance.
  • Oversee multiple accounting systems.
  • Deliver automation and internal control infrastructure improvements.
  • Drastically improve timeliness and accuracy of accounting reporting

Requirements

  • B.S./B.A. in Accounting.
  • 10+ years of accounting experience
  • Mid-large size company Corporate Controller experience: at least 5 years
  • Heavy ERP experience; Syspro a plus
  • Experience growing a business.
  • Inventory and supply chain exposure at a large company.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Able to manage multiple projects and deliverables.
  • Recognizes urgency in solving problems and completing critical work.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Responds creatively to issues, change and high growth.
  • Positive, relationship-oriented attitude and communication style
