ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

POSITION SUMMARY:

World Relief seeks an Internship Coordinator. This position runs the internship programs of World Relief Western Washington, including the hiring of 5 full-time interns, quarterly part-time intern cohorts, and occasional cultural immersion interns. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping young adults explore their calling through work at World Relief.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This role is responsible for supervising others and includes responsibilities consistent with supervising employees including but not limited to monitoring daily work activities, tracking and approving timesheets including approving time off, monitoring performance including entering goals, progress check-ins, and weekly or bi-weekly check-ins, documenting performance concerns, entering staff promotions, transitions, and separations in HRIS within required time frame. Managers at World Relief are also considered spiritual leaders and are expected to lead staff in a manner consistent with our Christian values including but not limited to praying with staff, leading devotionals, and fostering a Christian environment in interactions with staff throughout World Relief.
  • Oversee internship programs, directly supervising interns and providing them with ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • Recruit interns who bring diverse backgrounds, a variety of skills, and steady coverage throughout the calendar year.
  • Work with program managers and other staff to determine the need for interns and division of responsibility for supervision and day-to-day coordination for department-specific internships.
  • Manage application, interview and screening process, keeping up-to-date with organizational intern policies and onboarding documents.
  • Schedule regular Office Hours during which the coordinator is available for interns and to check in with them.
  • Create weekly intern schedules and communicate clearly and consistently with staff and interns.
  • Review and revise onboarding, orientation, and ongoing intern training curriculum to fit current programming and intern needs.
  • Work closely with Program Managers and other staff to match intern resources with office needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of intern hours and activities and record/report data regularly as needed for program compliance.
  • Maintain regular communication with interns (fielding questions, occasional group emails, etc.).
  • Conduct appreciation and recognition of interns.
  • Collaborate and connect with local organizations and schools for intern recruitment.
  • Email/contact intern alumni occasionally regarding volunteer roles and ongoing opportunities.
  • Steward internship-related community partners (ex: universities, high schools, churches, and police departments).
  • Coordinating, tracking, and reporting for internship grants and related programming (ex: CILEP and Murdock).
  • Coordinate the Refugee Youth Mentorship program, working closely with Outreach Team members and subcontractor to train, support, and supervise ongoing volunteers (individuals or groups), matching them with refugee, asylee, or other immigrant participants in collaboration with community partners.
  • Collaborate with community partner(s) to match Refugee Youth Mentors with eligible mentees.
  • Work closely with the rest of the Outreach Team to fulfill speaking engagement requests, as well as engage in recruiting and promotional events and community engagement opportunities.
  • Work closely with Outreach Manager and other WRWW staff to pivot and adapt intern roles as needs change and assist interns through ongoing role transitions.
  • Actively participate and contribute to Outreach Team meetings and External Engagement events, engaging the community in the work of World Relief Western Washington.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of volunteer information, hours and activities; enter data regularly into database.
  • Create and implement program evaluation tools to measure volunteer and participant experience.
  • Track volunteer engagement, program data, and regular program improvement goals.
  • Track participant engagement and provide follow up surveys and conversations to better address the needs of refugee and immigrant communities through this program.

  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Association of Evangelicals' For the Health of The Nation document
  • Intermediate computer knowledge, including MS Office and the ability to learn new programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and sensitively with people of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
  • Intern/Volunteer management or program management experience preferred.
  • Training or leadership development experience preferred.
