JOB SUMMARY

The Community and Family Services Director provides leadership, quality assurance management and coordination of program services. Cultivates a culture of collaboration and innovation for the organization through collaborations within and outside The Village. Creates sustainable next steps for program/s.

PROGRAM SUMMARY

FES/JRB

The Program Director will provide management and oversight for the Fatherhood Engagement Services (FES) and the Juvenile Review Board (JRB). The Program Director will provide clinical services to the clients of the FES program and ensure fidelity to trauma-informed and evidence-based clinical models. They will provide individual, family and group therapy to the clients in the Fatherhood Engagement Services Program. Our Fatherhood Engagement Services works to help strengthen father-child bonds and enhance the level of involvement of fathers in their DCF case planning, provision of services and positive parenting. Through intensive outreach, case management, clinical services and group programming, Village staff help fathers learn skills and characteristics to strengthen their parenting relationship. The Juvenile Review Board is a community-based program that provides youth who have committed juvenile offenses the opportunity to make things right with an alternative to juvenile court. Through a mediated process, youth understand how their behavior harmed the victim and community, acknowledge that their behavior harmed others, and take responsibility to repair the harm through direct or indirect action. A Balanced and Restorative Justice approach balances the needs of the offender, victim and the community. **A clinical degree and active Connecticut license isrequired (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, Psychologist)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Thought leader and partner in creating multiple Village programs.
  2. Integrates and creates efficiencies within and outside organizations.
  3. Engages in data driven decision making, management, quality improvement and planning, as well as ensures high quality in databases.
  4. Works with leadership and all stakeholders to position services effectively.
  5. Collaboratively develops and monitors work plans to meet programmatic goals and objectives.
  6. Works with stakeholders to track activities and outcomes, as well as monitors collaborations and work agreements.
  7. Works with multiple programs to ensure integration of services and development of a system of support.
  8. Creates reports that support the continuous improvement of services.
  9. Ensures and maintains continues communication.
  10. Leads or contributes to writing funder reports, grant applications and agency policies and protocols.
  11. Facilitates inter-agency meetings and provides training/education both internally and externally.
  12. Manages the process and protocols for new referrals.
  13. Responsible for the on boarding, orientation to agency and program for new staff.
  14. Monitors staff performance, including completion of all requisite documentation standards and ensuring corrective action if needed.
  15. Works as a team member with other clinical, community and administrative staff to respond to client and programmatic needs.
  16. Collaborates with other program and agency staff to ensure integration of services and development of system of care.
  17. Partners with supervisor to identify areas and develop plans for professional growth.
  18. Partners with other community or clinical programs and staff to identify and develop approaches to address clients’ unmet needs or service gaps.
  19. Contributes to agency organizational life by participating in agency wide task forces, committees, or problem-solving teams as appropriate.
  20. Contributes to agency visibility and development of community linkages by representing The Village in community groups or committees as requested.
  21. Responsible for the supervision of program staff and others as assigned.
  22. Responsible for hiring, training and performance management of assigned programs.
  23. Maintains close working relationships with stakeholders and donors.
Experience and Skills

EDUCATION

  • Clinical degree is required.

EXPERIENCE

  • Early Childhood experience preferred
  • Clinical degree and Connecticut license is required (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, Psychologist)
  • Home Visitation experience preferred
  • Must have significant experience with managing human service programs that support populations served by the Village
  • Must have at least 3 years supervisory/management experience. Ability to lead and manage multiple programs and adapt supervisory style to support the professional.
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse groups, such as government, organizational and faith community leaders and members.
  • Expected to have knowledge of the Greater Hartford community, including its’ institutions and the municipality
  • Understanding of budgets and financial reports and strong organizational and writing skills required.
  • Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet applications. Possess solid general computer skills, including ability to work in a Windows XP environment. Familiarity with specific applications used by the Village a plus.
  • Flexible schedule required.
  • Commitment to cultural diversity and demonstration of service effectiveness.
  • Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations, including ability to travel to various sites throughout greater Hartford.
  • Must be patient, empathic, and show good judgment in pressured situations.
  • Cultural Competency: Familiarity, sensitivity, and/or experience working with diverse populations; Bilingual/bicultural skills preferred.
