About This Position
Texas Center for Urology in Fort Worth, TX is seeking a highly motivated Molecular Laboratory Technologist, with expertise in sample processing and PCR, to join our Clinical Laboratory Operations team. The candidate will be responsible for preparing and processing samples through our Laboratory Developed Testing protocol, which includes performing relevant quality control, processing biospecimens under laboratory-approved procedures and related quality standards and generating quality patient-focused data.
As a Molecular Lab Technician at our urology clinic, you’ll be working in our in-house PCR lab, specializing in molecular testing to help diagnose and treat urological conditions. Your primary responsibility will be performing Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests, analyzing patient samples to detect infections, genetic markers, or other conditions that impact urological health. These tests are critical in supporting our physicians to provide accurate and timely diagnoses, enabling better patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct molecular testing, particularly PCR, on patient samples to identify pathogens or genetic variations relevant to urology.
- Prepare and process samples according to established laboratory protocols, ensuring proper specimen handling.
- Analyze and interpret test results to assist in diagnosing urological conditions such as urinary tract infections, bladder, or kidney disorders.
- Ensure quality control by adhering to laboratory policies, documenting activities, and maintaining accurate records of test results.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot assays and instrumentation as needed to resolve issues that may affect test performance.
- Demonstrate a commitment to meeting turnaround time (TAT) objectives, quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the planning and execution of process development and improvement activities, including Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Collaborate closely with lab technicians, clinicians, and the medical team to support patient care.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient lab environment, including general upkeep, maintenance, and inventory management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent in the Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related discipline
- 2+ years of laboratory experience with relevant experience involving PCR testing in a clinical laboratory setting (CLIA, COLA).
- Strong written and oral communication within and across teams, fostering collaboration and problem solving with other departments and colleagues
- Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, most specifically Excel and Power Point
- Clinical laboratory certification (ASCP) or equivalent is desirable, but not required.
- Polymerase Chain Reaction testing or clinical lab testing: 1 year (Preferred)
Pay: $25.00 - $32.25 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Wednesday 10 AM - 6 PM, Thursday to Friday 10 AM - 7:15 PM. Upon completion of training, work hours may adjust to include later evening shifts, based on business needs.
